One of the best ways to enhance your experience in vanillaWoWis to use one of the manyWoW Classicaddons available for the original version of the game.
Some addons offer minor changes that suit some niche preferences or playstyles, but this list ofthe bestWoW Classicaddonsrecommends the bestWoWmods that players of any experience level will find helpful. When downloading a mod, be sure to check for any prerequisite addons, as someWoW Classicaddons may not work without other supporting mods.
8What’s Training
What’s Trainingis one of the most usefulWoW Classicaddons because it saves you a lot of time having to go back and forth from your Class Trainer. With thisWoW Classicaddon, players can see what abilities are available to train without having to go back to a capital city.
This addon displays all abilities you can currently train in a new tab in your Spellbook, and displays abilities you will unlock for training at later levels, too. This addon makes it easy to decide whether it’s worth making the trek back to a capital city or not to train new abilities.
7Attune
Especially useful forWoW Classic,Attuneis an addon that displays your progression status for the vanilla game’s many Attunement questlines in an easy-to-understand visual format.Onyxia’s Lair attunement,Molten Core attunement, and attunement quests for a variety of otherWoW Classicquests and instances can all be tracked in this interface.
If you don’t plan on engaging with some of the game’s endgame PvE systems like Raids or Dungeons that require attunement, you probably won’t get much use out of this mod. But players who are eager to jump into the endgame should install Attune to track the numerous attunement questlines required for endgame PvE content.
6Voiceover
TheVoiceoveraddon is a mod that will enhance your immersion inWorld of Warcraft. Most of the time, players skip past quest text and just look for the important objective information, but with Voiceover installed, an AI voice will read out the quest text as if the quest giver were speaking to you.
The Voiceover addon will stack new quests on top of each other and play one after the other as you venture out. There are a few bugs here and there, but it’s still one of the best ways toincrease your understanding ofWoW’s loreand gain some appreciation for the game’s hundreds of quests.
5Extended Character Stats
The default stat screen on the Character menu inWoW Classicis a bit lacking, to say the least. It doesn’t display all of your character’s stats, and oftentimes the stats that are displayed have no relevance to your class or spec.
Extended Character Statsessentially adds a new column to the right of your Equipment screen that displays every single stat for your character, down to the minute details. This helps a lot when deciding if a new piece of gear is an upgrade or not, and can be customized to only display stats relevant to your build.
4Bartender
Though modernWorld of Warcrafthas come a long way in improving player customization of the game’s UI elements,WoW ClassicUI is difficult to adjust to most players' liking (or to non-standard monitors). TheBartenderaddon allows you to move almost every UI element inWoW Classic.
Bartender4 is an essential addon for any seriousWoWClassicplayer because it allows players to complete customize their UI, from moving target frames to action bars and most smaller UI elements. It doesn’t cover everything, but it’s a lot better than the default UI customization inWoW Classic.
3Auctionator
Making Gold efficiently inWorld of Warcraft Classiccan be tough, especially if you don’t know the value of the items you find while adventuring. WithAuctionatorinstalled, when you hover over items in your Inventory, the current Auction House price for that item will be displayed.
It doesn’t sync automatically, so players must Scan the AH regularly to keep up to date on what’s valuable and what’s not. But with this mod installed, you will be able to tell what’s worth vendoring and what is worth listing on the AH. It’s especially useful for players who want to try Crafting or making gold from the AH exclusively, as it also comes with a suite of Buy and Sell modifications to make the process a lot smoother.
2Leatrix Plus & Leatrix Maps
Leatrix Plusis essentially a suite of small quality-of-life improvements that can be used tocustomize elements ofWoW’s UI and gameplay. With Leatrix Plus installed, you can automate Quest turn-ins and NPC dialogue, sell your Junk and Repair instantly when talking to vendors, automatically accept summons from Guildmates, enhance certain UI elements (that aren’t affected by Bartender), and more. It’s a low-impact addon, which is impressive considering just how many addon options are included.
Leatrix Maps, the sister addon to Leatrix Plus, offers a suite of improvements to the World Map. With Leatrix Maps installed, you’re able to showmore information about the world’s many zones, display Coordinates to follow preciseWoWlocation directions, reveal unrevealed areas, display special icons for different NPC vendors, and much more. It’s incredibly useful for navigation and a massive upgrade over the defaultWoW Classicmap interface.
1Questie
Arguably the bestWoW Classicaddon, and certainly one of the most popular,Questiebrings the game’s dated questing UI to the modern day. No longer do you have to parse through complex quest text to understand exactly where to go and what to kill for quests – Questie essentially adds a quest tracker to the side of your screen and multiple ways to display quest objective locations on your minimap and world map.
Questie does have one flaw, and that’s that it isn’t exactly conducive to the “classic” experience. In many ways, the best way toexperienceWoW Classicfor the first timeis without the use of quest help addons, forcing you to figure out quest locations yourself (or ask for help from other players).
But if you don’t want to wander around just to find out you’ve misunderstood the quest text and gone to the wrong location, and don’t mind being told exactly where to go for every quest, Questie is a must-have.
