World of Warcrafthas officially confirmed player housing is coming in theMidnightexpansion. Though few details are available at the moment,World of Warcraftfans can expect to finally be able to customize their own living spaces when the second expansion of the Worldsoul Saga releases in 2026.
Player housing is a popular MMO game mechanic that allows fans to decorate a personalized living space. WhileWoWdipped its toes into it with Garrisons inWarlords of Draenor, it lacked the depth gamers truly wanted, andWorld of Warcraftstreamers like Preach suspected player housingcould never truly come to Azeroth with its current systems.
Despite this,World of Warcraftrecently shocked fans by revealing the highly-requested feature was, in fact, on its way. At the end of the inauguralWarcraftDirect presentation,World of Warcraftgame director Ion Hazzikostas segued into a final teaser by saying “And speaking of home, the team does have one more thing to share with you,” after which a short video played, featuring a Warrior wearing therevampedWoWTier 2 Battlegear of Wrath armorentering a cozy chamber filled with decorations. A mug with the words “Home Sweet Home” on it, and developer comments on Twitter after the fact, confirmed that this teaser was indeed for player housing inMidnight.

While little information is available as to howWorld of Warcraftplayer housing will work, looking at the teaser trailer, alongside other MMO systems, may give a clue. The walls of the chamber are decorated with iconic weapons like Quel’delar, the Night Elf HuntressWarcraft Rumbletoy, a training dummy, and the mounted head of Onyxia, implying fans may be able to decorate their home with collected transmogs, toys, and other furnishings. It remains to be seen if thishousing system will be instanced likeGuild Wars 2, or if there will be public wards likeFinal Fantasy 14, though the former system seems like it would work better forWoW.
According toWorld of Warcraft’s roadmap for 2025, a formal reveal forMidnightis planned for next summer. Beyond giving fans a glimpse at the story and zones coming in the new expansion, it will likely contain the first details about this player housing system.
This wasn’t the only thing announced forWoWat theWarcraftDirect. December 17 has been officially locked down as a release date for Patch 11.0.7, andWorld of Warcrafteven gave players a first look at Patch 11.1, a Goblin-themed update called Undermined.
