At the beginning of a recent interview with Taliesin ofWoWcontent creator duo Taliesin & Evitel, Ion Hazzikostas confirmed that this feature would not simply be a new version of Garrisons – thebase-building mechanic fromWorld of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor. “[Garrisons] were never aiming to be housing,” he said. “They were a riff on theWarcraftbase fantasy.” On the other hand, according to Hazzikostas, player housing will not have any player power attached to it and will encourage social interaction, rather than discourage it as Garrisons did.

While he could not provide many additional details, he also confirmed there will be more types of houses than the Stormind-esque home shown in the recent teaser trailer. Beyond this, he also pointed out thatMidnightwould only be the beginning for player housing. “[Housing] will be the beginning of a long arc of an evolving feature, and not just a one-off, single-expansion feature.”World of Warcraftexecutive producer and vice presidentHolly Longdale corroborated this in an interview with The Daily Star, saying player housing would be a journey for “the next couple of decades” and revealing that an entire team had been built to support the feature.

It seems fans are unlikely to get any further details about player housing inWorld of Warcraftat the moment, but they won’t need to wait long to learn more. Considering the feature is seemingly arriving before the end of 2025, by this time next year, fans may be decoratingtheir very own homes withinWorld of Warcraft.
