For nearly a year now, players from across the globe have battled the near-endless hordes of Brainiac inSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Over the 11 months, multiple expansions and seasons were added to the game, allowing players to unlock new cosmetics and try out new playable characters, including the Joker, Mrs. Freeze, and Deadshot’s daughter, Zoe Lawton, A.K.A. Lawless. Players were additionally able to learn a bit more about the Squad’s backstory with the release of the comicSuicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum. WhileSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguereceived a good amount of criticism for its story and gameplay, now may be the best time for new players to try out the game thanks to cheap sales offerings.
In coordination with the Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday weekend, the Epic Games Store is selling theSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice LeagueDigital Deluxe Edition for a measly $5, a 95% decrease from the Digital Deluxe Edition’s original price of $100. With the Digital Deluxe Edition, players will receiveJustice League Outfits for the Suicide Squad, three Notorious Weapons, four Weapon Dolls, one Battle Pass Token, and four Color Swatches. The Battle Pass Token can be used to access a premium battle pass when redeemed. This sale ends on Tuesday, December 3rd, at 11 am. While the Digital Deluxe Edition is currently on sale for $5,Suicide Squad’s base game on the Epic Games Store is still being sold for $70.
In contrast to theEpic Games Store’s sale onSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s Digital Deluxe Edition, Steam, the Playstation Store, the Xbox Games Store, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, and Walmart are selling the edition for $100. However, the PlayStation Store is selling a Digital Deluxe Edition Upgrade to the base game for $7, though this sale also ends on December 3rd. Both the PlayStation Store and Xbox Games Store are selling the base game for $14 while GameStop is selling the base game for $18. Amazon is selling the base game for about $25. Target and Walmart are both selling the base game ofSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguefor about $30.
Developed by Rocksteady Studios,Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueis set in the same universe as the celebratedBatman: Arkhamgames. Taking place five years afterthe events ofBatman: Arkham Knight, Advanced Research Group United Support Director Amanda Waller is forced to assemble Task Force X, otherwise known as the Suicide Squad, after the Justice League becomes compromised by the alien Brainiac and his invading forces in Metropolis. Throughout the game, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang kill members of the Justice League one by one with technological assistance from multiple Lex Luthors and other characters.
In terms of gameplay,Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueis a third-person shooter gamefocused primarily on gun combat with a bit of melee mixed in. While Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang, each have their own unique abilities from various comics, shows, movies, and other games, players will mostly be shooting a gun as their primary weapon no matter who they play as or which hero they face off against. However, each character does have a unique way of traversing the alien-invaded Metropolis. Harley Quinn utilizes a grappling hook, Deadshot utilizes a jetpack, Captain Boomerang utilizes a teleporting boomerang, and King Shark just jumps from building to building.
Eventually, the Squad discovered that this Brainiac isn’t just invading Arkham Earth, but is working with 12 other alternate Brainiacs to take over the multiverse. By the end ofSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s base game, the Squad is able to defeat the Arkham Brainiac but must now travel to other Earths to kill their Brainiacs and stop the multiversal domination. Over the course of three seasons, on top of the base game, multiple Brainiacs have been taken out on the Brainiac Kill List. Joker joined the Squad after his world was wiped out by his Brainiac, while Mrs. Freeze froze her Earth after the fight with Brainiac was seen as unwinnable andLawless voluntarily joined the Suicide Squadto rob and defeat Brainiac.
A fourth new member of the Squad, Deathstroke the Terminator, is expected to be released alongside theSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s fourth season in January 2025.
