Still, there are indications that Ubisoft has not completely given up on the franchise, like the continued release of more licensed content.
One such piece of media isWatch Dogs: Truth,Audible’s first original interactive audiobook. According to its synopsis,Watch Dog: Truthtakes place after 2020’sWatch Dogs: Legion, the last major game release in the franchise. The newly released audiobook featuresWatch Dog’s recurring hacking collective DedSec, which also became afaction inXDefiant, Ubisoft’s competitive free-to-play FPS that fully launched in May.

Watch Dogs: Truthwas created by American/British director Ben Caird and includesThe Fall of the House of Usherstar T’Nia Miller in its cast. It also has English actor Pascal Langdale, who reprised his role as DedSec’s reliable AI ally Bagley. According to hisIMBd profile, Langdale was also in otheropen-world games by Ubisoft, such asAssassin’s Creed: ValhallaandFar Cry 6. He provided the voice and likeness forHeavy Rainprotagonist Ethan Mars as well.
OtherWatch Dogsadaptations includeWatch Dogs:Tokyo, a 16-chapter manga that concluded in April, and a series of novels published by Aconyte Books. Ubisoft’s film and TV subsidiary has also partnered with Regency Enterprises, which worked onThe Northman,The Lighthouse, andLittle Women, among many others, to create alive-actionWatch Dogsmovie. In September, Ubisoft announced that filming for the upcoming motion picture had already wrapped up.
Prominent video game industry leaker j0nathan previously said thatWatch Dogs: Legion’s poor performance led to the cancelation of several projects based on the franchise. One of these scrapped titles was supposedly a battle royale experience.Watch Dogs: Legionis estimated to have sold 1.9 million digital copies within its first three days. When counting both physical and digital sales, the last majorWatch Dogstitle was the highest-selling game in the United Kingdom at the time of its release,GamesIndustry.bizreported.
