When you beginWarcraft 1Orc Scenario 3, immediately build a Peon (as is tradition) and send your starting two Peons to the Mine to the southeast. Send a Spearman and a Grunt to your southern border, and the remaining three troops to guard the Bridge that leads east.

Send your units out about a screen further than the location where they will be posted. This reveals the Fog of War and allows you to see incoming enemies long before they are in attack range, giving time to re-organize troops and call in backup if necessary.

When your Peon is finished, send them to the Forest to the southeast to harvest Lumber. When you have enough Gold and Lumber to build a Barracks (500 Gold, 600 Lumber), place it on the southeast corner of your settlement for optimal unit spawn placement.

After building a Barracks, focus on building a Lumber Mill, as this will unlock the ability to purchase and upgrade Spearmen units. These units are very useful for this Scenario, especially if you can get a Necrolyte with Raise Dead later on to protect them.

Before building a Temple, though, build more Spearmen (50 Lumber, 450 Gold). Aim to have three or four on your southern border at the gap in the forest, to stop Humans invading from that side, and continue to build out your army with nothing but Spearmen until you havearound 11 or 12 of these unitsplaced on the eastern bridge.

You will run out of Gold from the mine to the southeast eventually, so before this happens, send out your Spearmen army to the east to find another Gold Mine. Keep your units posted near this Gold Mine to guard Peons as they make the long trek back to your Town Hall.

When you have enough Lumber and Gold to build a Temple, select a Peon and press the “Advanced Buildings” option.Place the Temple buildingon the western side of your settlement. When you get 750 Gold, research Raise Dead, then purchase a Necrolye for 700 Gold. You only need one to win this Scenario.

Keep your eyes on the bridge that leads south from the eastern Gold Mine, where your Spearman army should be stationed. Most humans will spawn and enter the area from this bridge, and you should deal with them quickly to reduce your own losses.

Continue to build Spearmen and Farms to support your army size. When you have around a dozen Spearmen, upgrade their damage twice at the Lumber Mill. This will cost 2250 Gold (750+1500 for each tier).

Send your Necrolyte to your army across the bridge and keep them in your back line. When everyone is fully upgraded and ready to go, send your Spearman army south across the bridge, with your Necrolyte close behind. You will encounter Human units soon after crossing the bridge, and Grand Hamlet itself is about two screens to the south.

Defeat the Archers and Stop your army. Use your Necrolyte to Raise Dead on any enemy units (and friendly units) that died, and send these risen Skeletonsto your front line. These temporary units will stand in the way of enemies and your Spearmen, allowing them to hurl Spears at enemies rapidly without taking damage.

You can also use Skeletons to lure out enemies from Grand Hamlet. Send one Skeleton south until it reaches Grand Hamlet and draws the attention of the Knights and Archers. Walk the skeleton back to your waiting army to thin their numbers before charging in.

With an army this size and a Necrolyte summoning Skeletons to take damage, you can just as easily march into Grand Hamlet and kill everything in the city. It’s safer to draw out enemies, but if you want to finish this scenario quickly, and are confident that your army is strong enough for the job, just march right on in and focus onkilling Units before destroying buildings.

When you destroy Grand Hamlet and all of the Humans inside, the Scenario may not end. There may still be a few humans out in the unrevealed locations on your map – for instance, a small force could be heading to the southern border of your settlement.

Send your Army out into the Fog of War to hunt down the last Human and complete the Grand HamletWarcraft 1Orc 3 Scenario. After defeating the Human scum, your next orders will take you to the Deadmines to hunt down an Orc that betrayed her people to join the Ogres.
