Like inWarcraft 1,Warcraft 2: Tides of Darknessallows players to use cheat codes (which still work in the newWarcraft 2: Remasteredversion). These cheat codes can provide a variety of beneficial effects, but some work a little differently than they didin the firstWarcraftgame.
For example, instead of granting just the player resources, “glittering prizes” will give both the playerandtheir opponent resources. You don’t need to enable Cheats like inWarcraft 1with a special code, allWC2cheat codes can be enabled from the outset. But pay careful attentionbefore entering theseWarcraft 2cheats, as you might end up giving your opponent a major leg up.
How To Use Warcraft 2 Cheat Codes
To use cheat codes,Warcraft 2players simply need topress the “ENTER” key and type in one of the game’s many cheats into the chat boxthat pops up. UnlikeWarcraft 1,Warcraft 2cheat codes do not require a special cheat code to become unlocked. Activating cheats inWarcraft 2isas simple as typing out the cheat codein the chat box as you would a normal chat message.
If you decide to use a cheat in a campaign mission, your Ranking at the end of the scenario will be altered. Instead of the game’s normal rankings, you will be given the ranking of “CHEATER!”, overriding your score for that level.
All WC2 Cheat Codes & Effects
One thing to note about the way allWC2cheat codes work is that many of the bestWarcraft 2cheats affect both youandyour opponent. For example, the “make it so” cheat speeds up all of your units and construction, but it will also increase your enemy’s production speed. The “glittering prizes” cheat will boost your own and your opponents' gold, lumber, and oil reserves.
Some of thesecheat codes only work under certain conditions. For example, the ability to skip between levels is only available while in the campaign mode, and the same goes for the “noglues” code, which disables campaign briefings and victory/defeat screens.
