The development team behindVampire Survivorshas released a new roadmap that’s dizzying, to say the least. There are no official traditional notes fromVampire Survivors' publisher/developer Poncle, but a brief video shows the names of both released and yet-to-be-released updates and features swirling like a galaxy.
Following its full release in October 2022, Poncle has givenVampire Survivorsplayers plenty of ways to keep the game feeling fresh, with six paid DLC expansions and a slew of updates that have boosted the game’s character roster, selection of weapons, and variety of stages. Most recently, theOde to Castlevania DLC hitVampire Survivorsat the end of October 2024, bringing over an impressive 20 new characters from theCastlevaniaseries and more than 40 new weapon types.
The new roadmap, which doesn’t follow a linear pattern, mentions Ode to Castlevania and one of its new playable characters, Hammer, along with a few other pieces of previously released content, like theContra-themed Operation Guns DLC from May and the Space 54 free update from February. While many of the keywords orbiting around the garlic at the center of the vortex are tied to past updates, a few stand out singularly: Pyroclasm, West Woods, House, and Final Flight. There’s no indication whether these entries will benewVampire Survivorsstages,entire updates, or something else entirely, and the social media team is urging players to look closely to try to decipher the roadmap’s secrets.
Vampire Survivors Gets a Confusing New Roadmap
The obscurity of the swirling roadmap seems like an intentional move by Poncle, as the post on Twitter wishes fans of the game “good luck working out what’s next,” and the social media team has been quite interactive with members of the game’s community who have hazarded guesses. There’s not much to be gained from the social media team’s responses, other than their insistence that there will still be no actual vampires in the game, although one official response to a fan requesting a version ofVampire Survivorsplayable on aDance Dance Revolutionmatsaid it “would be pretty epic.” One solid piece of information that can be gleaned from the team’s comments is that Poncle is planning to add more achievements to the game.
This isn’t the first time thatVampire Survivorshas revealed a chaotic roadmap. In late December 2023, a non-animated but still swirling roadmap revealed the names of many of the upcoming updates to the game, several of which have managed to make it onto the orbital 2024 list as well.
