Summary
Marvel has several projects coming up in theaters and on TV. One of the shows streaming on Disney Plus will be very violent.
Marvel Studios has tons of projects in the pipeline in 2025. At least five movies are set to hit theaters:Captain America: Brave New World,The Fantastic Four: First Steps,Thunderbolts, andBlade. There are also three shows coming to Disney PlusDaredevil: Born Again,IronheartandWonder Man. It’s expected that there will be an element of violence because there will be fighting scenes in these types of shows. However, Marvel Studios' Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, said one of them is among the “most violent things” they aired.
Winderbaum appeared on the Phase Hero podcast following the showcase at D23 in Brazil and discussed the upcoming MCU projects, including the newDaredevil, Ironheart, Wonder Man, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,X-Men ‘97and more. According to him,Daredevil Born Againwill not hold back when it returns to the small screen. “It all comes at a cost,” he said when asked about the level of violence in theDaredevilreboot.“It is one of the most violent things we’ve put on screen, but it’s in service of a greater tragedy that is really compelling.”
Winderbaum added that he was very excited about the show but wasn’t sure if the audience was ready for it. He also expressed approval of the casting. The show stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, andVincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, to name a few. “It goes really deep into these characters. I loved the original show, and that cast is unbelievable. I remember having conversations with Kevin when the original series was cast. If we were making a movie aboutDaredevil, that would be the cast.“Daredevilaired for three seasons on Netflix, and a fourth season was underway when the streaming giant canceled it because Disney had pulled back the rights to Marvel film and TV projects.
Winderbaum’s revelation aboutDaredevil: Born Againis not new at all, but it is a confirmation that fans can expect tons of action-packed sequences. D’Onofrio previously said thatthe new Daredevil on Disney Plus will be more brutalthan the one shown on Netflix. He even teased about a particular scene that fans would reportedly play repeatedly. When pressed for more details, he jokingly said he was referring to a fight scene where Daredevil fought “extremely cool.” He also teased that his character did something he thought would never make it into the final cut, presumably because it was too violent. “There are some things in this show that we go much further with what we did on the original show. There’s one thing in particular that my character does that I can’t believe made it into the cut,” D’Onofrio shared. It’s clear that the newDaredevilis on another level when it comes to viciousness and cold-bloodedness, which only excites fans who love the dark and savage element ofDaredevil.
