What is the Exhibition?
There is very little detail about what exactly awaits guests inside Tokyo Ghoul EX. This has been done to keep everything within a surprise, making it a more memorable experience for visitors, as nothing has been spoiled in advance. The exhibition does have alimited English website, and the introduction reads,

Anime “Tokyo Ghoul” has always fascinated its fans since it was first aired on TV 10 years ago.
An immersive exhibition that offers an opportunity to experience the beautiful yet sad world of Tokyo Ghoul through three-dimensional exhibits, interactive experiences, and dynamic videos will take place.

TheJapanese versionof the website does have a map as well, which includes areas like a torture chamber, an immersive theater, a Quinx treatment area, Anteiku café, and more. It does seem that the exhibition means to take fans on a journey through the anime, making it come alive.
The Japanese website also has information about what kinds of goods will be available for purchase. Depending on the level of ticket that visitors purchase, they can get some very exclusive goods, including a complete pin set of all the major characters with a serial number (very limited quantity), and an exclusive acrylic standee. All visitors also receive a special print of Kanekidrawn by the original mangaka, Sui Ishida. The versions differ by venue, with visitors to Tokyo getting Kaneki in human form, and visitors to Osaka getting him in ghoul form. All visitors will also receive a limited character card on a first come, first served basis. The design changes by the week.
There is also plenty of merchandise to buy, including calendars, mini figures, acrylic key chains, and more. Some of the more unique things are centipede earplugs, a wine opener shaped like Shu, a two-way tote bag with asubtle Kaneki design, doorknob signs, and a huge amount of clothing. There is also a full Kaneki mask available to order which looks just like the iconic one he wears in the anime. This mask is limited to purchasers over 18 years old, and costs 120,000 yen ($775 USD). Tokyo Ghoul EX. has significantly more exclusive merchandise than anime exhibitions tend to have, making it a haven for fans who like to collect goods.
There are a couple of warnings on the website that should be considered in advance. The first reads, “Some exhibits and images in this exhibitioncontain violent depictions. If you feel uncomfortable or uneasy about such expressions, please consult with yourself before viewing the exhibition.” The second reads, “Due to the nature of the exhibition, some areas may have some restrictions on entry.” Interestingly, preschool children are allowed to enter the exhibition (for free), and children under 6 can enter with an adult. It is likely that they will not be able to see everything, though, as some parts of the exhibition are for adults only.

Tokyo Ghoul EX. will be in Tokyo until December 1st, and is located in Warehouse TERRADA G1 Bldg. in Shinagawa, Tokyo. There will also be a limited opening in Osaka from December 14th to December 29th at VS. in Umekita Park. There are three levels of tickets to choose from, depending on your budget and what you want to receive in addition to entry. The basic entry ticket, which just allows for entrance into the exhibition, costs 3,300 yen in advance or 3,500 yen at the door.
For fans that want something special to remember the exhibition by, the next level of ticket includesexclusive merchandise, costing 5,800 yen in advance or 6,000 yen at the door. Finally, the highest level of ticket includes customizable merchandise. This special ticket costs 12,000 yen and can only be ordered in advance. Orders for this special ticket are already finished for Tokyo, but are still available for Osaka. All tickets are available on a first come, first served basis, so it is better to order in advance to avoid disappointment at the door.
