It’s been quite some time since the last mainlineWitchergame was released. The Witcher 3hit store shelves in 2015, and though another mainline entry hasn’t released in the decade since, the series has seen a number of spinoffs, mobile entries, board games, re-releases, and TV show adaptations drop over the years.

Thanks to all of these additional projects,The Witcherfranchisehas managed to not just maintain its popularity, but continue to gain new fans, and developer CD Projekt Red needs to capitalize on that sooner rather than later. Thankfully,The Witcherhas been setting up a few big dominoes, and 2025 could finally be the year when they start to fall.

2025 Could Be a Huge Year for The Witcher Franchise

The Witcher 4 Might Make an Appearance in 2025

Codenamed “Polaris,“The Witcher 4was first announced back in March 2022. A few months after its initial reveal, CD Projekt Red’s former CEO, Adam Kiciński, claimed thatThe Witcher 4was at least three years away, which would make its earliest possible release date 2025.

SinceThe Witcher 4’s 2022 reveal, CD Projekt Red has been fairly quiet about the game’s development, only popping up once every year or so to confirm the game is still being worked on. DuringCD Projekt’s recent 2024 financial report, the developer/publisher’s current CEO, Michal Nowakowski, confirmed thatThe Witcher 4is now in full production, with pre-production having wrapped a few weeks ago.

Video game development can take anywhere between one year and six in this current climate, so the odds ofThe Witcher 4releasing in 2025 aren’t great. But that doesn’t mean fans won’t see anything from the upcoming sequel. IfThe Witcher 4is now in full production, fans might see a cinematic teaser trailer before the end of 2025.

Two More Witcher Video Game Projects Could Be Seen in 2025

Also announced in 2022,a remake of the original 2007Witchergameis still in development. No official statement has been made regarding the remake’s release window, but recent rumors have claimed that the game could still be a little ways off. But much likeThe Witcher 4, there’s a possibility fans could get some kind of teaser trailer in 2025.

The third and finalWitchervideo game project in the works right now is amultiplayer spinoff codenamed “Sirius.” Being developed by both The Molasses Flood and CDPR, Sirius' development was restarted back in early 2023, so it’ll probably be quite a while before fans get to see the game, and even longer until they get their hands on it.

Netflix’s Witcher Season 4 Could Arrive in 2025

Though beloved leading man Henry Cavill won’t be returning, the fourth season ofNetflix’s live-actionWitcheradaptationis still on its way. Production on season 4 reportedly began back in April, so if it follows a similar pattern to season 3 (which started filming in April 2022 and released in June 2023), then fans might have a newWitcherseason by the summer of 2025.

Gwent Is Getting a Physical Card Game

Even if fans don’t get any trailers forThe Witcher 4, theWitcher 1remake, or the multiplayer spinoff, at the very least they will be getting a physical version of the infamousGwentcard gamefromThe Witcher 3. Set for release in Q3 2025, this physical version ofGwentwill come with 400 cards and a playmat, and will retail for around $40.
