However, nothing can keep Oz Cobb on the down-low as one talented fan brings the ruthless kingpin out of the shadows and turns him into a stunning artwork as he graces the covers of retro comic books. Colin Farrell shone as DC’s ferocious villain Oz Cobb, who was the central focus forThe Penguin, but, as incredible as his performance was, other complex characters took the limelight, allowing their stories to be heard too, especially that of Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Falcone.
In no surprise to anyone who has watched the series, which illuminates the events that follow from 2022’sThe Batman,The Penguinwas the third most-watched HBO show when it comes to first seasons, arriving behind other iconic shows that includeHouse of the DragonandThe Last of Us.Now dubbed one ofthe best comic book shows,The Penguintook one ofBatman’s underrated arch nemesis and gave him an extra layer of complexity, even injecting a strange dose of likable into some of his scenes. The show’s ability to hone into its character-driven perspective angle and exploration of dark themes, has firmly placedThe Penguinat the top of the DCU’s best shows to date.
The Penguin Fan Art Gives Oz Cobb a Retro Comic Book Twist
In a bid to keep Colin Farrell’s amazing portrayal ofThe Penguin’s Oz Cobbat the forefront, one extremely skilled artist has created incredible fan art which sees the kingpin of the underworld reimagined as a retro comic book character. Illustrator Davi Alves not only has a talent for creating striking fan art, but also the ability to hone into the retro era, turning pop culture moments and characters into something that looks like they came from the golden age of the 1930s. In Alves' most recent artistic endeavor, Colin Farrell’sThe Penguingraces numerous classic covers, placing the former lieutenant of the Falcone Crime Family in different situations that mimic the underlying story of each of the series' episodes.
However, even though Cobb seems to be the main focus on many of the retro comic covers, Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Falcone also steals some of the limelight. In an issue called “Cent-Anni”, which is fromThe Penguin’s episode four, Sofia can be seen wearing a gas mask, highlighting that particular scene where she struts around the Falcone mansion in her ballgrown after gassing the whole house, killing everyone in it.
The Penguinseason one’s ending, as sad as it was, has given fans hope that another season could be on the cards. With Sofia back in Arkham Aslyum and Oz ruling the roost, things certainly seemed bleak for the daughter of Mafia Don Carmine Falcone. However, a sliver of hope came in the form of a letter from Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, which could see the pair team up to take Oz down for good, either inThe Penguinseason two orThe Batman Part 3.
