Summary
Dragon Questis a series known for being a hardcore RPG. It requires a lot of grinding and solid strategy even to get through normal battles. When it comes to bosses, players have to really keep their options in mind and that couldn’t be more true inDragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake.
Thankfully for those unaccustomed toDragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, there are difficulty levels. Difficulty cheats aside, there aren’t many bosses in the game but the ones present may even give veteran RPG fans a hard time. Let’s go through some of the most challenging bosses based on strength and positioning in the game.
7Chiromancer
A Solo Battle
Chiromancer, if players are leveled up enough, will not be incredibly brutal. Two factors may make it tricky though. Players have to go through the Gaia’s Navel dungeon alone and this includes the boss fight. Chiromancer has a vampire ally too, giving the enemies more chances to strike.
Taking down the vampire isn’t that hard and if players keep up with healing, Chiromancer will eventually go down. It can just be hard to strike a balance between healing and fighting when thehero is alone inDragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake.
6Orochi (2nd Version)
A Japanese Classic
There are big gaps between bosses in the game but strangely players will have to fight Orochi twice in the span of a few minutes. Both times are at full strength too but the second version seems more fierce. The first boss battle will be in a volcanic layer and the second will be in the village of Jipang.
From the town name to Orochi’s name and design, it’s clear this whole event was basedon Japanese folklore. Even with a well-balanced party, it can be hard to take Orochi down once let alone twice thanks to its group attacks.
5Garboyle
Guardian Of The Volcano
Finding Garboyle requires a long series of steps involving the hero’s father, Ortega. Back in his peak, Ortega met a man named Simao who had a cursed blade called the Mountaincleaver. Eventually, players will find the ghost of Simao who wants the blade thrown into a volcano, aka Mt. Necrogond, like a scene out of The Lord of the Rings.
Before the sword can be destroyed, Garboyle jumps in to fight the party and has a lot of hard-hitting area attacks from claws to fire cracks. Garboyle can cause status ailments too if players aren’t properly equipped withaccessories inDragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake.
4Soul Of Baramos
The Fake Final Boss
Baramos is the main goal for players, at first, as a way to bring peace to the world and to get revenge for Ortega. Players will probably go into the Baramos fight thinking they have to be fit and ready for a final duel only to find out there is still a big chunk of game left.
Even after defeating thispowerful dark mage, Baramos will return several times. His second attempt renamed the Soul of Baramos, is the hardest version in the Tower of Rubiss because he has two Ashdemons with him. Dealing with multiple enemies big or small in any boss battle can be unfair.
3Zoma
The Final Boss
Zoma is the true final boss of the game or at least of the main story. He has a similar spell-set to Baramos, favoring ice magic overall, and introducinga lot of status ailmentstoo. The truly tricky thing about this encounter is getting the pacing right.
It’s a marathon, not a race as Zoma has a lot of HP and he will drain players of a lot of theirs through powerful spells. That MP well may run dry for the party before the final blow is dealt. It may take a few times, but victory will taste sweet.
2Grand Dragon
The Dragon At The End Of The Road
Grand Dragon is the ultimate boss in the game, and the ultimate dungeon of the game is called the Temple of Trials. It’s a post-game dungeon requiring players to basically finish up everyside quest inDragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remakeand to also level up the party to wild proportions. The dungeon itself will be hard but Grand Dragon will be leagues beyond that.
It looks like a golden version of Orochi with similar spells. If players did grind to the max then they may actually find this encounter easy but it’s hard to say as every player is different.
1Xenlon
Make Three Wishes And Pray
While Grand Dragon is technically the hardest boss of the game as far as attack power and HP levels go, the boss right before him, Xenlon, is slightly above it. That’s because players need to beat Xenlon in a certain number of turns to get the full set of wishes. Xenlon is likeShenron fromDragon Ball, the mystical dragon that can grant people wishes.
InDragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, players have six wishes to choose from after the fight with one of them being able to unlock the aforementioned Temple of Trials. Xenlon has a massive amount of HP, so getting every wish will take a lot of practice.
