How The Amazing Spider-Man 3 Could Help
The Amazing Spider-Man 3never took place, which was disappointing because a compelling story was being told within the first two movies, and audiences wanted to see that continue. Garfield was fantastic as Spider-Man, and the emotional way that the second movie ended opened up the potential for a lot of exciting ideas, especially with a possible Sinister Six storyline. Ultimately, it was all dropped, and the focus of Spider-Man went over to Marvel, much to the dismay of many people.
However, injecting Spider-Man into this franchise would instantly get the attention of the masses and would guarantee a big box office success because he’s a beloved character that has global appeal. Spider-Man has always equaled success, and that’s why people want to see him in this. It would also help Sony create a stronger narrative within these movies, as the villains that have been used could all be brought together to fight against Spider-Man. It would provide something different from Marvel’s as the storyline, and the characters involved aren’t the same, which would help. But it would ultimately lead to people no longerasking where Spider-Man is, which is arguably the biggest problem that links all of Sony’s Spiderverse movies together.
Why It Makes Sense For The Amazing Spider-Man Franchise To Return
For a long time, there were questions over whether Sony bringing Spider-Man back would make sense, considering Marvel has the character right now in some of the biggest movies possible via Tom Holland’s role. However,Spider-Man: No Way Homeopened the doorfor Sony to bring back Spider-Man with Garfield in the role as well.
Seeing Garfield and Tobey Maguire return to their roles as the beloved webslinger within the Marvel Cinematic Universe was expertly done, and it led to Marvel enjoying lots of success for that individual movie. But at the same time, it provided Sony with the ideal opportunity to bring Garfield’s character back. It got the excitement building aroundThe Amazing Spider-Manfranchise because people were talking about Garfield’s performances and how good the movies were, while the actor himself seemed to be relishing being back in the role too.
However, the main reason why it makes sense is because Marvel essentially opened the door for Sony to bring Garfield’s version of the character back.The Multiverse storyline made it perfectly clearthat there are other Spider-Men that exist in different timelines, and that’s something that provides an easy explanation. Sony could quickly reference Holland’s timeline inThe Amazing Spider-Man 3and the fact that there are more Spider-Men in the world, all while capitalizing on the buzz that Marvel has created for the character and saving the Spiderverse that they have built up themselves.
