Summary

AStardew Valleyplayer’s first Ancient Fruit should have been something to celebrate, but the sole crop grown ended in disaster. While it’s not the end of the world, losing Ancient Fruit can be unfortunate for any player, but losing the first one can push aStardew Valleyplayer’s progress back.

While most seeds in the game can be acquired by simply buying them from a merchant,Ancient Fruitis a bit more complicated. While there are a few ways players can potentiallyacquire Ancient Fruit seeds, the most common method for early players is to find an Ancient Seed artifact and then donate it to the museum. That rewards the player with a plantable packet of Ancient Seeds, which sprout into a renewing plant. However, it looks like some mistakes were made along the way in this particular case.

Reddit user LittleDJS1234 shared an image of theirStardew Valleyfarm. The player can be seen staring at theirSeed Maker, which has produced a packet ofMixed Seeds. Judging from the title, it seems the player put theirsole Ancient Fruitinto the seed maker, hoping for more Ancient Fruit seeds to be produced. In general, seed makers will produce 1-3 seeds of the same type of produce that was put in the maker. With a mere 2% chance of getting mixed seeds in return, the player seems to have had very bad luck to end up with this result.

Stardew Valley Players Offer Advice

As this was the player’s sole fruit, they have none left to plant, but players have offered some ways for them to get back on track. Since the player presumably unlocked the Ancient Fruit seeds from the museum, they should also have a recipe for making Ancient Fruit seeds. All they need to do is find another Ancient Seed in one ofStardew Valley’s artifact locationsand then craft the recipe. Others have suggested that the player craft more seed makers and then fill them with crops like blueberries. Seed makers have a 0.5% chance of creating Ancient Seed packets regardless of what’s put into them, so this player may be able to get more than just one viable seed through this method.

Some players pointed out that the seed maker shouldn’t be used before players have more than one fruit to avoid this potential outcome. Since the player’s screenshot is in winter, it seems as though their plant only managed to produce one fruit before the seasons changed and it died. A little planning and careful timing can go a long way to preventing issues like this, so fellow fans should take care whenplanting and collecting their Ancient Fruit.
