Though Loid Forger has spent most of his life in an unemotional and distant profession inSpy x Family, his life certainly changed the moment he was tasked with getting married and starting a family for a mission. While some might expect thespy to stay in character and not develop real feelings, it seems this is not the case for Loid.
Loid shows a lot of changes after season 1 inSpy x Family, showing unexpected care for Anya and even Yor. His focus becomes less on themain mission at hand as a spy, but instead leans more towards giving his family a happy life and vowing to protect them.
Loid Looks To Help Anya Succeed
He Wants Anya to Excel in School, Not Just For the Mission
ThoughLoid Forger has a mission to do, and that involves ensuring Anya succeeds in school, it becomes increasingly obvious overtime that he wants her to excel for reasons outside the mission. Whenever Anya is upset about doing poorly in school and in her exams, Loid seems to struggle with her. He takes it upon himself to tutor her and give her the guidance she needs so she can be successful in school. He becomes much easier on Anya as well, no longer becoming frustrated with her when she makes mistakes, but instead, is patient and helpful.

InSpy x Familyseason 2, episode 9, “The Hand That Connects to the Future”, Loid takes time out of his own mission to spend time with Anya and watch the fireworks on the cruise. Although he has a job to do, he prioritizes Anya’s happiness and ensures she feels loved and protected by him. While he might not always say it, his care for Anya runs deep.
He Grows a Legitimate Relationship With Yor
Their Relationship Has Become More Than Just a Transaction
When Loid and Yor first meet and decide to get married, it is agreed between the two of them that the marriage is for a cover. Loid needs to be married for his mission, while Yor wants to blend in more with her coworkers, who are curious as to why she still isn’t married. However, as they begin to spend more time with each other, their bond slowly becomes legitimate, with Loid showing real care for Yor. InSpy x Familyseason 2, episode 3, “Mission and Family”, Loid becomes significantly worried when he believes Yor might be in danger. Instead of looking at her as just an object to fulfill his mission, she becomes an important part of his life.

Loid does his best to support Yoras well when she begins to doubt her abilities as a mother. He wants the best for her, and seeks to actually encourage her to strengthen their relationship rather than to complete his mission. He realizes that Yor’s role in the family dynamic is just as important as his, and he respects her abilities and dedication. He does just about anything to protect Yor and Anya.
Sacrifices Important Missions For His Family
Missions Become Less of a Priority For Him
Loid has a lot of dangerous missionshe has to pick up daily, all leading to the completion of Operation Strix. However, over time, his feelings and care for his wife and daughter become real, and fans will notice they have become his main priority over his mission. InSpy x Family, season 2, episode 10, “Enjoy the Resort to the Fullest”, Loid clearly shows that he doesn’t want to carry out his mission as originally planned on the cruise ship as it might put Yor and Anya in danger. With a multitude of bombs present on the cruise ship, Loid diligently works with the State Security Police to disarm them to protect his family.

Whenever Loid is given a mission with high risk, he seeks to alter his approach in the best way possible to protect Anya and Yor from facing any danger. Even if thismeans the mission might take longer to complete, or won’t be fulfilled in the most efficient way possible, his number one priority is keeping his family intact. Even if this upsets his handler, he chooses to change his methods when needed.
Loid Begins to Show Real Emotion
The Mask Starts to Fade
As Loid progressively deepens his relationship with his family, including Anya and Yor, it becomes increasingly obvious that he is no longer wearing a mask around them; instead,he shows real fatherly care for Anya, and seeks to develop a deep relationship with Yor. He even starts to notice these changing emotions himself, much to his own surprise, since he has spent most of his life in loveless environments.

Loid very clearly wants to give Anya and Yor a life they will enjoy, and a family dynamic they can trust will be there for the foreseeable future.Loid takes Yor out on dates, and spends real time with Anya now to show his real emotions coming through. Despite the initial cold exterior, Loid has changed for the better and prioritizes his family as much as he can.
