Summary
Sonic X Shadow Generations' movie DLC will retail for $5.99, according to a recently emerged store listing. The newly spotted price tag is consistent withSonic X Shadow Generations' existing DLC offerings.
The latestSonic the Hedgehoggame was released for PC and consoles on October 25. A month ahead of its market debut, Sega announced thatSonic X Shadow Generationswill receive a Shadow DLC skin inspired by thecharacter’s appearance fromSonic the Hedgehog 3. This alternate version of Shadow will feature voice work by Keanu Reeves, who also voices him in the upcoming movie.
Sega’s original announcement merely stated that the movie DLC pack will be offered as one of theSonic X Shadow GenerationsDigital Deluxe Edition bonuses, without attaching a concrete price tag to the add-on itself. However, a newly emerged eShop listing spotted by Twitter user TailsChannel (viaTheGamer) indicates that the DLC skin will also be sold individually, priced at $5.99. Although the add-on still hasn’t appeared on any other digital storefront, the fact that the info from its eShop listing comes directly from Sega suggests that there’s little reason to doubt its veracity, even though this reveal might have been premature.
Sonic X Shadow Generations Movie DLC Launches December 12
The alternate Shadow DLC is set to launch on December 12, eight days beforeSonic the Hedgehog 3premiers in stateside theaters. Sonic Team Producer Shun Nakamura has recently labeled this addition as a fun opportunity to combineSonic X Shadow Generationswith the upcoming film, noting that the add-on won’t closely follow the story of the movie but merely take inspiration from it. Aside from Keanu Reeves’s Shadow, the DLC will also feature a level taking place in modern-day Shibuya, one of Tokyo’s special wards that happens to be the setting ofSonic the Hedgehog 3. It is there that players will be tasked with defeating the forces of the Guardian Units of Nations (GUN).
Fans who already own a digital copy of the base game or have purchased its physical edition can still pick up all of its bonuses via the Digital Deluxe Upgrade, priced at $11.99 across all platforms. It’s currently unclear whetherSonic X Shadow Generations' movie DLCwill be the last piece of downloadable content for the game. But given how Sega’s been placing a bigger emphasis on supporting its titles with post-launch expansions in recent years, it’s plausible that Sonic Team still has some more surprises in store.
