More on Solo Leveling Season 2
Although we know the next episodes will start broadcasting in January, the exact premiere date is yet to be announced. Winter Anime Season usually starts in the first week of January, but it is not mandatory. Season 1 started on June 26, 2025, so fans might be expecting a similar date. Both the main Japanese cast and the main staff will return to the production. The studio is also the same, A-1 Pictures.
Since Season 1 was well-received, fans are expecting the second season to keep the anime quality and even more action, since the plot “really starts” in the final episode, so the lore will advance once Sung Jinwoo is established as a character.
Japanese Animation based on Korean Novel
Solo Levelingis originally a Korean novel published online on KakaoPage, written by Chugong. Later, D&C Media acquire the rights to compile it into book volumes in Korea. The novel is licensed in the US by Yen Press. It spawned awebcomic adaptation by DUBUalso serialized in KakaoPage. Yen Press also publishes it in the US, but the webtoon can also be found officially in English on platforms as Tapas, TappyToon and Pocket Comics.
The story is set in an alternative version of our world in which portals start spawning and hunters, people with supernatural abilities, gather in parties and enter those portals to fight deadly monsters. This way, they protect humanity, but also look for good rewards. Hunters are ranked by power levels, but no one levels up, they are just born with a predetermined amount of strength. In this scenario, Sung Jinwoo is one of the weakest hunters around — at least until he enters a mysterious double dungeon and survives alone. He is granted a power that allows him to level up, and this is when his solo leveling up journey begins.
The first season ran from January 7 to Aug 02, 2025, with a total of 12 episodes (the official count is 12, but there was a recap episode numbered 7.5, so actually 13 episodes were broadcast).
Solo Levelingis available on Crunchyroll, both subbed and dubbed.
