Summary
ASims 4player was shocked to discover that their chicken had killed Death, the Grim Reaper itself. The surprising moment confused the player and has cracked up theSims 4community, with many stating that they didn’t know this was possible.
The Sims 4has seen a lot of content surrounding death recently, asThe Sims 4’s most recent expansionreleased was Life and Death. This expansion allows players' Sims to take up the role of the Grim Reaper, in addition to a slew of additional content for the title. However, this particular incident doesn’t rely upon the new expansion.
A Reddit user andSims 4player shared a screenshot and expressed how baffled they were when their evil chicken decided to take down the Grim Reaper. According to the OP, their Vampire sim had died, andthe Grim Reaper arrived to claim their soul, as is typical inThe Sims. However, when the Grim Reaper showed up, the evil chicken attacked it, preventing it from claiming the Sim’s soul. The screenshot shows the evil chicken firmly planted between a collapsed reaper and the reaper’s target, refusing to back down.
What’s With the Sims 4’s Evil Chickens?
While most players simply found the situation hilarious, many were also confused about what exactly was going on.Chickens were added toThe Sims 4in Cottage Living, which this player has. Normal chickens behave the way one would expect, but evil chickens are different and have to be specially bred or converted from a standard chicken. While the dark plumage and glowing red eyes might make one think an evil chicken would bring despair to a Sims household, a happy evil chicken is actually quite protective of its owner. If a player asks for an evil chicken’s help even once, it will subsequently attack foxes, enemies, and even the Grim Reaper in an effort to defend its owner.
If a reaper is killed, a new one will be assigned and will eventually arrive to tend to the task their predecessor failed to complete. However, if the reaper was only disabled, this can lead to a known issue where the evil chicken will continuously attack the Grim Reaper whenever it gets back up, leading to a loop where the dead Sim can’t be claimed and the Grim Reaper won’t ever leave the lot. To fix this, players can just temporarily put the chicken in their inventory and let the Grim Reaper do its job.
This particular player didn’t want their Sim to die, so removing the chicken isn’t an ideal solution for them. Thankfully, there are many methods toresurrect dead Sims, plus ways to prevent the Reaper from taking their soul. While the evil chicken can’t bring the Sim back, it may be able to help create enough of a delay that players can get what they need to either resurrect their Sim or convince the Reaper to spare them.
