Severance Season 2 Will Be Even Darker Than Season 1
In an interview withVanity Fair, Dan Erickson and Ben Stiller were asked what direction will season two ofSeveranceexplore, which, in turn, would give fans some concrete insight after waiting three years to finally follow on from that heart-pounding season one cliffhanger. For obvious reasons, showrunner Erickson didn’t seem to want to unleash too many secrets about what the returning season would entail, but he did tease that this time, the series would be much “darker” than before.
“I think things get darker. We very much wanted to put our heroes in a scarier place because Season 1 ends with them poking the bear. They form this little rebellion, and they’re able to achieve a modicum of success with it, but the question with Season 2 was: What happens when the bear pokes back? What’s the fallout of this victory that they had? I think, without giving much away, the fallout is dire.”
Delving into the “darker” aspect a little more, Erickson expressed that they wanted to put Mark and the group in a more sinister place inSeveranceseason twodue to what they discovered at the end of season one. He also states that because they “poked the bear”, this action will now have terrible consequences, simply adding that the “fallout will be dire.” Stiller mentions that he enjoyed reading about all thetheories surroundingSeveranceseason oneand wants to keep that same air of mysticism when fans travel through season two as well.
