Summary
Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) may be an adult now with a family of her own, and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s going on with her whenScream 7isreleased in February 2026. But when the firstScreammovie was released in 1996, the iconichorrorfinal girl was a high schooler figuring out who she wanted to be while being chased by a terrifying villain in a black and white mask. It looks like the same coming-of-age theme will be repeated in the upcoming horror sequel asseveral young stars have been cast, includingIsabel May as Sidney’s daughter. Other new cast members includeCeleste O’Conner fromGhostbusters: Frozen EmpireandAsa Germann fromThe BoysandGen V.
If these three stars play teenagers inScream 7,I think that will make the slasher sequel even more compelling. However, I want the characters to act a certain way, and I have some ideas about how they can make the seventh installment in the popular franchise even better.
I Want The Young Adult Characters In Scream 7 To Be Like This
I think one of the new teenageScream 7characters should be a second final girl who teams up with Sidney. The most obvious choice for this is May’s character since she is Sidney’s daughter. I’d definitely love to see Sidney and her kid battle Ghostface. It would provide enough nostalgia for fans like me who have seen everyScreammovie multiple times but would also usher in a new generation. It would also make it easier forScreamto continue beyond the seventh movie, if that’s something that the filmmakers decide to do. Many fans wonder about a new final girl taking over the throne from Sidney, and perhaps her daughter is the right person.
However,May’s character needs to actually fight and not be stuck in a hospital room, likeJenna Ortega’s character Tara Carpenter inScream (2022). I was excited about Tara being a potential new final girl. She’s smart, knows a lot about the horror genre, and doesn’t suffer fools. But, instead, she was injured and sidelined.
I also think that May’s character needs to have a killer twist. Maybe she has a secret that she has been keeping from Sidney, or she’s somehow connected to the new Ghostface. This would make the movie even more intriguing.Scream 7should be bolder thanScream 6and take some storytelling risks, and this big reveal would be one good way to do so.
I also want to see the teenage characters experience some conflict with Sidney inScream 7. This is an interesting dynamic that hasn’t been explored before. Maybe Sidney suspects one of them of beingone of the Ghostface killersor they have a problem with her for a reason that will be revealed near the end of the movie. No matter what happens, I think the movie should explore a more engaging storyline than just Sidney and a group of teenagers trying to get Ghostface before he kills them. Maybe Sidney and some of her daughter’s friends disagree on how to go after Ghostface, and they split up into two different teams. That would be fun to watch and also create some tension. There’s definitely a lot that can be explored here.
Who Are The Best Teenage Characters In The Scream Franchise?
There have been many engaging and memorable teenage characters in theScreamfranchise.I liked watching Sidney’s best friend Tatum Riley (Rose McGowan) inScreamas she is intelligent, sarcastic, and a quick thinker. Other stand-out high school characters include Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere),Jill Roberts (Emma Roberts)and Kirby Reed inScream 4, and Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown) andChad Meeks-Martin (Mason Gooding)inScream (2022).The bestScreamteenage characters are as smart as the adult ones, if not even more clever, and they give thelegacy characters like Dewey Riley (David Arquette)a run for their money.
TheScreamfranchise has attracted so many talented actors since it’s so beloved, fun, and entertaining, and hopefully more will be added soon to the cast of the upcoming sequel. Although none of these characters are teenagers anymore,I’d love to see Kirby, Mindy, and Chad come back forScream 7. Perhaps it’s possible. Savoy Brown loved starring inScream (2022)andScream 6and spoke toComingsoon.netabout theScreamfandom. She said:
“But to be received with such love and open arms from the fans has been overwhelming and really a dream come true. I would do a thousand of these movies if I could.”
