According to a recent tweet from industry insider HipHopGamer,GTA 6will use an enhanced “2.0” version of PSSR on the PS5 Pro, which will supposedly be enabled with a firmware update sometime in the future and will allow for “mind-blowing” image reconstruction. He stated that Rockstar developers are working on PSSR 2.0 in a “big way,” and that the current iteration of the upscaling technique is its first.
PSSR’s Current Issues Lend Credence to a Potential 2.0 Version for GTA 6
The latter notion does make sense given that games likeCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, theSilent Hill 2remake, andStar Wars Jedi: Survivorare facing issues on PS5 Pro, particularly image quality artifacts borne from PSSR upscaling. Sony is most likely aware of them as well and is working to help fix the PS5 Pro games currently afflicted with the PSSR issues, in addition to improving the upscaler for future iterations.GTA 6’s in-depth PSSR integration wasn’t the only claim HipHopGamer made, though, as he also said the game would be bundled with PS5 Pro consoles to help shift units.
