Summary
According to a recent leak, Version 5.4 will release aGenshin Impactcharacter from Inazuma, adding a new member to the Electro Nation’s growing roster. WhileGenshin Impactis set to prioritize Natlan characters for the foreseeable future, it does not necessarily preclude the developers from adding characters belonging to other nations. The Fontaine era inGenshin Impactintroduced Xianyun, Gaming, Chiori, and Sethos to the playable cast, despite all four characters hailing from outside Fontaine.
With Mavuika andCitlali inGenshin Impactexpected to launch in Version 5.3, Natlan will already have at least one character per element by the end of January 2025. Though Inazuma has received a new character from the region every year since its release, there is also the upcoming Lantern Rite to consider. Earlier leaks have not only pointed towards Madame Ping becoming playable in the Natlan era, but that the Lantern Rite would also release a new 4-Star character from Liyue.
Thelatest information comes via Tiebaand is backed up by hxg_diluc, one of the most reliable voices in theGenshin Impactcommunity. While it does not reveal the rarity or element of the upcomingGenshin Impactcharacter, it claims that the newcomer will be from Inazuma and will release in Version 5.4. Previous rumors spoke of a Pyro or Electro Catalyst making a debut after the Lantern Rite in 2025, but it’s highly unlikely that the two concepts are related. As always, leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, asGenshin Impactis no stranger to changing its character release order on a whim.
Genshin Impact Could Be Getting a New Inazuma Character in Version 5.4
An Inazuma character being released in Version 5.4 would make sense, as both Kirara andChiori inGenshin Impactonly came out after the region’s Archon Quests were concluded. On the other hand, it could be argued that another character from Inazuma comes at the expense of Mondstadt, a region that has only received one character since Eula in Version 1.5. WhileGenshin Impactplayers remain hopeful that Varka will debut in an inevitable Mondstadt map expansion, Liyue and Inazuma will likely take precedence in the near future.
Curiously,Inazuma inGenshin Impactremains the only region that’s locked by story progress. While the Traveler can enter Inazuma early using certain characters and glitches, there is no official way to do so. As a result, theGenshin Impactcommunity views Inazuma characters as having a major disadvantage, since the region being locked prevents players from farming their Ascension materials. However, as seen with Chiori and Kirara, the developers have no qualms about releasing a new character from Inazuma if the concept is sound. Players will be able to find out more information after the release of Version 5.3 on Jun 28, 2025.
