The Sumeru era was largely marked by Dendro, whereas Fontaine tried to improve upon the more niche playstyles such as Plunge, Burning, and Overload.
While the Natlan era has only just begun inGenshin Impact, its characters tend to be defined by strong exploration skills and Nightsoul combat mechanics. The latter is not unlike Fontaine’s Arkhe system, as only Natlan characters have access to the Nightsoul’s Blessing. Characters likeOroron inGenshin Impactcan trigger their Nightsoul off-field, while others like Xilonen require a bit of field time. Apart from serving as an ammo system for their Elemental Skills, Nightsoul is also used to extend exploration abilities.
Given how the Nightsoul’s Blessing gives the Natlan characters their own unique charm, it’s not surprising that theupcoming weekly boss inGenshin Impacthas some extra lines for them.According to Els236, a dataminer and retired leaker, Xiuhcoatl has unique voice lines for every Natlan character if they die during the encounter. However, what makes the information so intriguing is that the voice lines also include Ifa and Varesa. While Ifa has been teased as a playable character inGenshin Impactfor a long time, Varesa is arguably a surprise to anyone outside the development team.
Who Are Ifa and Varesa in Genshin Impact?
AssumingGenshin Impactdoesn’t scrap the pair, Ifa and Varesa can now be viewed as upcoming playable Natlan characters. Ifa is a Saurian veterinarian from the Flowerfeather Clan and a friend of Ororon. His vision and rarity are unknown, but considering Chasca is already the 5-Ssar of their tribe, Ifa will likely be a4-star character inGenshin Impact. On the other hand, Varesa is a bodybuilder from the Collective of Plenty, and according to message boards scattered across Natlan, she is something of a glutton. Her vision and rarity are an even bigger mystery, as there is currently no guarantee Iansan is the 5-star character from the Collective of Plenty.
With Version 5.4 expected to release anew Inazuma character inGenshin Impact, and Iansan potentially releasing in Version 5.5, it may be a long time until players see Ifa and Varesa as playable characters. This would make them comparable to Clorinde, Kaveh, or Heizou, who have all been late additions to a featured region’s cast. Version 5.4 is supposed to launch on June 22, 2025, with Version 5.5 set for Jun 05, 2025. Genshin Impact players can expect to know more about Ifa and Varesa by then.
