The Rise of the Golden Idolcontinues the story that began withThe Case of the Golden Idol, although the sequel was designed to be a stand-alone adventure that players can enjoy without experiencing the original title. The point-and-click, drag-and-drop gameplay remains the same, with players collecting lists of words and determining their correct placement in a variety of texts, notes, and stories.
The game consists of several chapters, each progressively longer and more difficult than the next, so it helps to have a specific guide in addition to the hints already provided. Chapter Two includes a total of four chapters and is mostly exposition regarding the origin and whereabouts of the coveted Golden Idol.Spoiler Alert! The following guide contains complete solutions and major spoilers for the prologue and Chapter Two of The Rise of The Golden Idol.
Chapter Two
The Pursuit
Chapter 2 consists of four sections. This is one more than Chapter 1, which only had three. Some characters and personalities introduced in the prologue and Chapter 1 reappear, so don’t hesitate to check those old lists again for clues.
Remember that each section has an individual word list that players can check at any time using the “Words” icon at the bottom of the screen.
Zen Center Rendezvous
Overview
Thispuzzle is more easily solvedlast, but it’s short and fairly easy to figure out what happened even without finding all the words. Take note of the phase of the moon outside and the calendar dates.
The completed text is;
The events that took place at theHarmony Foundationon August17,1974, resulted insomeone’s death.
Events
There’s already a text saying that a murder took place, or the playerhas already determinedthat this mysterious lady is burying someone in her Zen Garden. The completed events text is;
In response,‘Historian’sprayed ‘Colleague’withhair sprayand thenpulled a rug.
As a result,‘Colleague’ fellandhitarock.
There are two categories at the bottom of the screen called “Corkboard” and “Story” that can’t be completed yet. These currently include a lot of blank and blacked-out spaces that will gradually be revealed as the player works through the chapters.
Behind Bars
An Alarming Incident At Stonewall Prison
There are two sections to explore here, like the first section. First, players explore the inside of the prisonand collect informationabout the inmates, and their discoveries will also include some data about the employees.
Cells
From the outside view, it’s easy to tell which cell is empty, and this is the “mystery” person. The prisoners outside have a few things to say about their cellmates and the guards, which gives away both their cells and their names.
The list of names also includes the guards and handyman.
Message
This is the coded message that helped the “mystery” prisoner escape. The numbers in the date from the letter correspond to the character sketches on the poster, which in turn can be connected to another set of cartoons on the same poster using matching colors.

This is a fairly detailed account of the prisoner’s escape. It’s an important event to remember for the next two scenarios. It consists of three paragraphs that are completed with the following words.
Blockbuster Release
Tragedy At The Drive-In
There’s a lot to find in these two detailed screens, but don’t forget the events at the drive-thru are connected to what happened at both the prison and the Zen Garden. Some of these characters have appeared before.
Equipment
This isn’t about the equipment related to the cinema but a note regarding “THE PLAN.” Once the player has collected the words, the solution is obvious.
Names
The various notes scattered around the main office and the guest’s cars give away most of the characters’ identities. The “Dispute” text can also be helpful.
Costumes
The question about “costumes” is revealed by both the fans’ cosplay and the movie poster.
Dispute
Two people are arguing about a bet about the movie’s outcome, but one of them is trying to cheat.
Tonight, we will see Bertrand lose his head.
Events I
A short synopsis of the events leading up to the theft of the projector crystal. There are four paragraphs split up into two Events.
Going Once!
A Shocking Murder At The Auction House
There’s a lot to take in at the auction house, where there are all kinds of shenanigans that happen when the lights are out. Not only does the player have to sleuth their way through two screens, but each of those screens has a daytime and a nighttime version. Players canchange this back and forthusing the clock faces on the upper right.
The drink order gives most of these away, but a few of them can also be found upstairs in the notes that appear at night. A few of them should look familiar.
Lots
This is a list of who bought what, and a few of these names and places repeat, so it’s not as difficult as it looks.

Four short paragraphs detail the events at the auction house. A few of these names repeat, and certain actions are described in the drawings, which makes this process of deduction a bit easier.
