Summary
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, even when bioterrorism threatens to destroy the world, so evenResident Evilcharacters deserve to enjoy the festive season. It can be hard to imagine the residents of Raccoon City preparing hot cocoa and settling in for a Christmas movie night with Umbrella’s monstrosities knocking on their doorstep, but if they found the spare time, they most certainly would — some of them, at least. If anything, a little Christmas spirit would distract everyone from the impact of the T-Virus pandemic.
There are definitely some Grinches among theResident Evilcast (looking at you, Wesker), but adversely, there are no doubt some characters who simply adore Christmas and all it represents, from singing Christmas carols to wrapping presents and curling up on the sofa in their comfy PJs. Here are a handful ofResident Evilcharacters who would love Christmas, based on some educated guesses from what players can glean from their actions and personalities.
1Sherry Birkin
Likely Celebrated Many Christmases With William and Annette
From the moment she met Claire Redfield inResident Evil 2, it wasn’t hard to tell thatSherry Birkin would grow up to be an absolute sweetheart. Players meet her again inResident Evil 6as a 26-year-old agent for the DSO, an organization operating under the United States government. Sherry has always been the type of person to see the good in everyone and everything, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that Christmas is her favorite time of the year.
As a child, she seemed to value her bond with William and Annette, even though they weren’t the greatest parents, and it’s easy to picture many happy Christmases in the Birkin household despite William and Annette’s demanding careers as virologists. If Sherry and Jake end up being a couple in futureResident Evilinstallments, Sherry’s infectious holiday spirit would definitely rub off on him too.
2Barry Burton
Barry Burton is a walking dad joke and absolutely the kind of father figure to fit the stereotype of sitting around with a trash bag to collect discarded wrapping paper on Christmas morning. He’s a family man through and through, who values his wife and daughters, Polly and Moira, more than anything else.
Just like the Birkins, the Burtons had the most magical Christmases over the years, especially when Moira was younger.
When Barry joined S.T.A.R.S., he wouldn’t be around much, so the Burtons would have cherished Christmas over any other time of the year, as Barry would likely return home from duty to celebrate. Barry’s favorite Christmas movie would beNational Lampoon’s Christmas Vacationsince Kathy always tells him that he reminds her of Clark Griswold.
3Jill Valentine
Spends Christmas Cuddled Up With Her Cats
Throughout her time as a S.T.A.R.S. member and a Special Operations Agent, Jill hasn’t shown much of an interest in dating. While Christmas typically appeals to families, Jill presumably enjoyed her fair share of Christmases with her parents, so it’s a tradition she continues well into her adult life. It’s believable that Jill would be less interested in celebrating Christmas with a romantic partner and more concerned with how to make her Christmas tree cat-proof.
Jill Valentine seems like the ideal candidate forResident Evil’s honorary cat lady, so she’ll be spending Christmas visiting friends' houses (like gatecrashing the Redfield family’s Christmas celebrations) and shopping for new toys for her furry friends. She doesn’t need the promise of romance to enjoy Christmas, so she’ll be more than satisfied dropping in on Chris, Leon, and Carlos, and then coming home to cuddle by the fire with her pets.
4Natalia Korda
Would Spend Christmas With The Burton Family To Make New Memories
There aren’t many young children that dislike Christmas, so especiallyafter her ordeal with Alex Wesker, the Burtons will be going the extra mile to give Natalia the best Christmas ever. Natalia has endured a lot of trauma in such a short time, such as watching her parents die and then being dragged to a remote island to unwillingly participate in Alex’s experiments.
All she wants is a new stuffed toy and maybe some pretty dresses, which her adoptive father, Barry, would be more than happy to provide for her. His daughters are all grown up, so Barry would jump at the chance to spoil the youngest, and Natalia would be eternally grateful for some good memories to replace the bad ones. She probably doesn’t believe in Santa anymore, but she wouldn’t tell Barry and hurt his feelings.
5Parker Luciani
Drinks Alone On Christmas Eve And Loves It
On the outside, Parker seems a bit rough around the edges and unapproachable to those who don’t know him, but he’s actually a gentle giant. He’s the kind of guy who would do his neighbor a favor by dressing up as Santa Claus to surprise their children. He probably would have wanted to spend Christmas with Jessica Sherawat before she double-crossed him aboard the Queen Zenobia, but now, he’s content with buying a few presents for his closest companions, like Jill and Chris, and probably spends Christmas Eve drinking alone in a sleazy bar.
But he doesn’t mind it, since he gets to flirt with the bartenders and share war stories with the old gentleman sitting next to him. He definitely comes to visit Jill on Christmas Day with a basket full of cat treats, but he won’t tell Jill that she’s turning him into a cat person.
6Claire Redfield
Decorates Earlier Than Everyone Else And Loves Mariah Carey
The Redfields love Christmas, but Claire especially. Chris can be a bit of a grouch on occasion (old age), but Claire always turns that frown upside down by baking Christmas cookies and singing along to Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” If she isn’t baking or singing, Claire is buying gifts for every single person she’s ever met, even her local barista, andgoing out of her way to bring good tidings to all. She’s the definition of a gift-giver in its purest form since it’s one of her love languages, and she always knows the perfect gift to get, even if the person doesn’t even realize they wanted it.
She likes to decorate nice and early — mid-November if she can — and the Redfield household is the first on the block to put up their Christmas tree. Claire Redfield is one of those people that pretends November doesn’t exist and Christmas begins as soon as Halloween ends.
Gatecrashes Jill’s Christmas To See His Furry Niece And Nephew
Unfortunately, Brad Vickers isn’t around much forResident Evilfans to get much of an impression of his personality, likes, and dislikes, but Brad thinks that Christmas fixes all of life’s problems. If he were being hunted by Nemesisaround Christmas, he would think his impending demise “wasn’t that bad” because at least it’s Christmas and not some rainy day in April. He radiates positivity, even when the odds are stacked against him, and since he’s such close friends with Jill, he’s practically an uncle to her cats.
He would stop by on Christmas Day, just like Parker, and spend hours swishing a feather on a string to keep the cats entertained. He does all the cooking, too, since Jill can be a bit of a slob at times. He isn’t afraid to wear Jill’s girly apron and take charge of prepping the Christmas dinner, especially if he can sneak a few bites of turkey to his niece and nephew.
8Moira Burton
Inherited Her Love Of Christmas From Her Father
No doubt about it, Moira inherited her love of Christmas from Barry. She gladly volunteers at the local church to prepare for the annual Christmas pageant and loves to take her Polly and Natalia ice skating. It helps to rebuild the family dynamic, especially after the incident created a rift in Barry and Moira’s relationship. As per Claire’s request, the Burtons and Redfields began combining their Christmases after the events ofResident Evil: Revelations 2, so they all gather for turkey and stuffing that Claire insists on preparing herself.
Moira always buys the most extravagant gifts for Polly, as she still carries a lot of guilt for what happened, but she’s learning to grow out of believing that she needs to atone for the accident. Barry and Moira have their separate tradition of going ice skating together, just the two of them, and Barry calls it “bonding time.”
9Luis Sera
Introduces Leon And Ada To Hispanic Christmas Traditions
As many Hispanic cultures also celebrate Christmas, Luis honors his ancestry by attending mass on Christmas Eve. He only really buys gifts for Leon and Ada, but he’s the one in charge of cooking. Leon and Ada have had their lives enriched by Luis' traditional Spanish delicacies, including tamales, coquito, ponche, buñuelos, and piñatas. It works out better that way, as what Latinos call “Navidad” is celebrated on December 24, not December 25 like most of the world.
Luis invites Leon and Ada over to kick off the festivities, and then Leon hosts on Christmas Day.Ada acts like she doesn’t want to be there, but she secretly does. Luis spoils them with only the richest wine and good eats, while Leon’s half-burnt turkey manages to suffice the following day. It’s an opportunity to embrace their different cultures and give thanks for their unlikely friendship.
10Leon Kennedy
Tries And Fails To Cook The Perfect Roast And Stresses Over Gifts
When Leon isn’t at Luis' place on Christmas Eve, he’s trying his hardest to prepare the roast for December 25. After all, he’s trying to impress his crush, and Luis can be just as judgmental as Ada, so there’s a lot of pressure to perform. Leon tries his hardest to match Luis' culinary skills, but he falls short every single year. They don’t mind, however, as it’s the thought that counts. Leon never knows what to buy for Ada, either, and that only piles the stress on more.
She’s a hard woman to please, so Christmas can be just as taxing as it is magical. He usually settles on jewelry for Ada and some kind of alcohol for Luis, which seems to do the trick. He loves watchingA Christmas Carol, mostly because he gets to compare Ada to Scrooge, and he’s a sucker for “Silver Bells” or “Blue Christmas.” Actually, pretty much any classical Christmas song.
