Fingernail tributes aren’t a common medium for showing one’s love for the survival horror genre, but that’s part of what makes this particular piece of work so interesting.
Reddit user andResident Evil 2fan Diamago shared their incredible fingernail art with fellow fans in the community. Diamago has taken incredibly long, pointed fingernails, and had each one decked out with an element from the game. Iconic villains and monsters are of course celebrated, with Birkin’s eye, a Licker with an extended tongue, a gore-dripping zombie face, and Mr. X’s bracers all earning a fingernail each. They’re not alone, though, with the STARS logo, RPD emblem,Umbrella logo, and the heart-shaped key all making an appearance.
Resident Evil Fans Are Thrilled (And Grossed Out)
Resident Evilplayers have shared plenty of praise for the creepy creations, with a mix of excitement and disgust. TheWilliam Birkinnail, in particular, has gained a lot of attention for the three-dimensional quality of it and the glossy, gross-looking texture. Some fans were curious about certain elements of creating and using the nails. The design was created by Diamago and brought to life by a friend, and they say it took roughly 3 1/2 hours to get the job done. One fan worried about the potential for accidentally stabbing one’s palm when folding their fingers, to which Diamago said that they were more concerned about poking themselves in the eye.
While certainly not practical for day-to-day wear, this incredible creation would surely catch the attention of just about anyone who saw it, even if they didn’t know anything aboutResident Evil. While it might seem a little excessive to some, fans of the series have gone so far as to have permanentResident Eviltattoosemblazoned on their skin, so it’s actually a bit less extreme than some demonstrations of affection for the games. While Diamago hasn’t given any indication of wanting to do this again, it would be interesting to see how some of the series' other creature designs would look when converted into wearable nail art.
