In recent months, there have been growing signs that suggest the developer could be working on yet another co-op game and, hence, sticking to its winning formula. Back in October, the studio had teased its next game by sharing a couple of cryptic posts on Twitter. Days later, leaker billbil-kun shared thatHazelight was building another co-op titlecalled “Split Fiction.” In a new development, the same source has now shed light on what could beSplit Fiction’s announcement and release dates.
Split Fictionis scheduled to roll out in around three months' time, on July 05, 2025, as per information shared by billbil-kun onDealabs. The Hazelight Studios game, which is rumored to feature splitscreen gameplay, is expected to land on both PC and consoles. However, there seem to be no leaks about exactly which consoles these might be. The report also mentions that fans will get the first trailer ofSplit Fictionthis month, pointing to theforthcoming Game Awardsset to take place on December 12.
It Takes Two Creator’s Next Game May Be Revealed And Released Soon
As things stand, it looks likely that Hazelight could announce its next game at The Game Awards 2024, based on certain clues. In November, a different source had said thatSplit Fictionwas set to be unveiledat the Geoff Keighley-hosted event, similar to billbil-kun’s suggestion. Going further back to June, Hazelight Studios founderJosef Fares tweeted a photoof himself with Keighley, giving more reason to think the reveal is set to happen during the award show. On the other hand, the case for the rumored game’s release date is consolidated by the fact that each of the developer’s games so far has been released in March.
After leading the development of three well-received co-op games, includingBrothers: A Tale of Two Sonsand the two Hazelight Studios games, it will be exciting to see what director Fares does next within the genre.
