​​​​​​​Reddit is experiencing major performance issues on Wednesday, November 20, as various parts of the site are inaccessible or loading slowly for users. At the time of writing, Reddit took to social media to post a status update and confirmed that it is investigating the issues plaguing the site.

As one of the most popular forums on the Internet today, Reddit has been one of the go-to places for people to exchange information, share accomplishments, and discuss topics from sports and politics to video games and movies. With a variety of subreddits dedicated to both popular and niche topics, gamers use Redditto share leaks and rumors, inform other players of problems with a particular game, or crack a few jokes at someone’s expense. Outages on Reddit are notably rare, so any outage will immediately attract the attention of its users.

Unfortunately, at the time of writing, a rare Reddit outage has taken place. Reports started coming in on Down Detector shortly after 3:00 PM Eastern, with 48,452 user reports listed at 3:26 PM Eastern. Currently, Reddit users trying to access the site are met with a red banner that says the site has encountered an error, and for users to try again later. At 3:38 PM Eastern,the Reddit Status Twitter feedposted a message that it was investigating the issue and aware of the site’s degraded performance across the world.
