First revealed during the 2024 Summer Game Fest,Rita’s Rewindis a 2D beat-em-up that looks straight out of the 90s. Fans can play as Jason, Zack, Trini, Billy, and Kimberly, and pilot the Dinozords to defeat the gigantic monsters threatening Angel Grove. The Rangers will also clash with Robo-Rita, a robotic clone of longtime series villain Rita Repulsa. Originally from the Netflix specialMighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once and Always, Robo-Rita traveled back in time to assist her younger self and stopthe Power Rangers during their early days.Rita’s Rewindwill have both online and offline couch co-op, with support for up to five players planned.
Although theSwitch version ofRita’s Rewindwas initially delayed to December 19, that will no longer be the case. Digital Eclipse posted an update on social media and said thatMighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewindwill arrive on Tuesday, December 10 on all platforms, including the Switch. Ergo, the Switch port ofRita’s Rewindis no longer delayed, and the game’s launch will be consistent across all current platforms. Digital Eclipse clarified that some online features will be released after launch, with two-player online co-op play on PC and PlayStation available at first. Xbox and Switch players will only have to wait a few more weeks for two-player online play. But, offline couch co-up play for up to five players will be included at launch. Digital Eclipse stated that the online play delays are due to technical issues that require more time to fully address.

Digital Eclipse added that the previously announced delay ofRita’s Rewindon the Switch was initially due to circumstances beyond its control. In response to fan comments, the developer said that things shifted behind the scenes last week to line up the release ofRita’s Rewindacross all platforms. Soon, players on all current major platforms can don the mantle of their favorite Power Rangers,including Tommy the Green Ranger, without any further disparity.
Though five-player online co-op will be released afterRita’s Rewindgoes live,Power Rangersfans can look forward toplaying together on all platforms on December 10. It remains to be seen what updates Digital Eclipse has in store in 2025.
