Summary
A creativePokemonfan has created fusion artwork that combines Garchomp and Swampert, and the results are impressive. While these pocket monsters might not be as popular as the iconic Eevee or Pikachu, they have many fans in thePokemoncommunity, as this new fusion art evidences.
First seen in Gen 3, Swampert is a Water/Ground-type Pokemon with an amphibian-like frame. Garchomp came slightly later in theGen 4Pokemongames, featuring a more draconic design compared to Swampert. Despite the obvious differences, one talented artist recently managed to find some common ground between their designs in some of their latest work.
On Reddit, a user known as DarkyLights shared an impressive and equally adorable fusion of Garchomp and Swampert. This unique design retained Garchomp’s dark blue and yellow color scheme but included pronounced fins similar to those on Swampert. In addition, the fusion Pokemon appeared to walk on all four legs like Swampert. Rather amusingly, DarkyLights included a couple of tiny fusions of Gible and Mudkip in the image, revealing the hulking presence of the evolved fusion. The artwork even included what appeared to be a shiny version. This alternate version swapped the dark bluish hue for a bright pink coloration.
Pokemon Fan’s Garchomp and Swampert Fusion Design
In addition to showing off their Garchomp and Swampert fusion, DarkyLights shared separate fusion art for the other Pokemon that are part of the evolutionary lines. Specifically, they previously createdfusion artwork of Gible and Mudkipas well as Gabite and Marshstomp. These other creature combinations highlighted some of the best parts of the original designs while creating something that felt distinct.
Since sharing the fusion designs on Reddit, many users have upvoted the post. In addition to complimenting DarkyLights on the creature combinations, some fans suggested possible names. For instance, Atom_Zephyr on Reddit came up with “Swampchomp,” gaining approval from many in the comments. Others suggested potential fusion options for DarkyLights to try next, such as the Dark/Dragon-type Hydreigon andthe Grass/Ground-type Torterra.
It is not hard to understand why Pokemon fusion art has become so popular with fans. With over a thousand Pokemon in the franchise, there are a plethora of possible combinations. Beyond the fusion art from DarkyLights, many other fans have tried blending Pokemon designs. For example, another gamer recently created acreepy fusion of Mimikyu and Scizor, fittingly sharing the art during the Halloween season. WithPokemon Legends: Z-Aexpected to arrive in 2025, it will be interesting to see what new fusions it inspires fans to create.
