Astoundingly, and somewhat against all odds, there has been no official news about the upcomingPokemongame,Legends: Z-A. Initially announced on Pokemon Day 2024, a hint of information has yet to drop. With so little officially known about the game, waiting for anything about the next Legends game has become a mystery in its own right.
While players have no proper way of knowing when anything new will be revealed, there are plenty of appropriately themed options to fill time during the evidently extensive wait. Even just within the newest released game,Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there are five things to keep players busy for the long haul.
5Complete All Pokedexes
Plenty Of Time
One of the more obvious choices for long-term goals inPokemon, and a beneficial way to kill time, completing the three Pokedexes inScarlet and Violetis perfect for players of any kind. With both intrinsic and extrinsic rewards for catching all Pokemon available, and with howeasy it is to complete the Pokedex now, there is little reason to leave it incomplete.
Now that a shiny Meloetta is rewarded for players completing the HOME Pokedexes forScarlet and Violet, on top of the various charms for completing the in-game Pokedexes, there is even more reason to finally tackle this classic challenge. And with plenty of time beforeLegends: Z-A, this is a perfect way to burn through the wait.
4Hidden Features
Often Ignored Parts Of The Games
With secrets, legendaries, and more to find across the three maps inScarlet and Violet, finding the hidden details in the game can be more than enough for players. Battling all trainers in the Blueberry Terarium, finding all flying locations, and collecting all clothes are productive adventures in themselves.
Outside of bonus side activities, completing and returning to locations found through the DLCs are also great for getting more out of the games before players learn anything aboutZ-A.Finding plenty of great items forTera raid useand extra money, as well as finding easter eggs to other games, most notably in the clothing auctions.
3Shiny Hunt
Tried And True
Perhaps the most obvious solution to killing time in aPokemongame, shiny hunting for any variety or even all available Pokemon is a perfect outlet for burning through hours. Between upcoming promoted raids and the average Pokemon found normally, players have no shortage of hunting targets.
While promoted shiny outbreaks will seemingly continue until the end ofScarlet and Violet, there are no shortage of Pokemon found throughout Paldea, Kitakami, and the Blueberry Academy to collect. For the more ambitious player, catching them all is definitely a worthy challenge. In late Decemeber 2024,a shiny Rayquaza will be promoted in Tera raids, and while not technically a shiny hunt, this iconic black dragon is a must for many players.
2Perfectly Power-Up Pokemon
Champion-Worthy Teams
A necessity for players ready to tackle7-Star Tera raids, maximizing and fully filling out the stats, movesets, and more of Pokemon for the strongest possible versions of themselves. Between finding competitively viable combinations of moves and abilities to figuring out what items work best with certain Pokemon for raids.
Even outside the more competitive-minded aspects of the generation nine games, having properly maxed out stats, maxed out moves, an ideal nature, and a powerful item on a strong Pokemon is only ever helpful post-game. Useful for taking out late-game trainers, champion battles, and capturing powerful Pokemon, training up the ultimate team is a crowning achievement for every player.
1Replay The Games
New Options In Old Stories
A relatively new option found only from the Nintendo SwitchPokemongames, the ability to replay games likeScarlet and Violetwithout having to delete the player’s main save is an often forgotten but perfect way to re-explore new or old regions without sacrificing anything.Going through the story and DLC storieswith a new team, a new starter, or even a fully shiny team is a perfect way to both truly appreciate the current games and make waiting for the next slightly more manageable.
Previously, starting a new file for aPokemongame required completely resetting the current save, but with the Switch games now being per profile, simply making a new profile means a new save. Perfect for challenges like Nuzlockes or simply going through the game from a new perspective, the simplicity of starting new without losing the old adds endless hours of playtime while players await anything fromLegends: Z-A.
