There are three primary Resources that virtually allplayers have to be concerned aboutwhen travelling aroundPath of Exile: Life, a representation of your character’s current Health, Mana, which can be used to fuel abilities, and a new Resource called Spirit. Life and Mana are easy enough to understand, but the new Spirit systemPath of Exile 2introduces works a little bit differently.
Spirit is used to fuel long-term or permanent abilities, like permanent minion summons, permanent self-buffs, and more. But it’s a relatively limited Resource, and players will soon want to know how to get more Spirit inPath of Exile 2to fuel more of these powerful abilities. This guide explains thebasics of the new Spirit Resourcemechanics and details three methods for how to increase Max Spirit inPath of Exile 2.
Path of Exile 2’s New Spirit Resource System
Spirit is essentially a Resource that can be used to gain permanent buffsor build-enhancing abilities. Life is lost when you take damage, and Mana is lost when you cast spells and skills. Spirit is different in that you Reserve a certain amount permanently to activate specific skills.
For example, the Mercenary has an ability that allows him to explode enemies when Overpowered and ignite nearby enemies for a certain amount of damage. But to activate this powerful crowd-clearing passive, you must Reserve 30x Spirit.
After Spirit has been reserved, you can’t regain it passively like Life or Mana. Spirit stays Reserved until you de-activate abilities that require this Resource.
How To Get More Spirit In Path of Exile 2
Spirit is an important Resource for certain builds, especially Minion builds that use Spirit to create permanent summons, but it can be hard to increase Max Spirit inPath of Exile 2.
Essentially, there are three ways to get Spirit:Path of Exile 2players can defeat Bosses, for a chance at consumable items that boost Spirit permanently, equip Gear with Spirit bonuses, or allocate certain Skill Points to boost Max Spirit.
If you are really hurting for Spirit and want to get more Reserve abilities activated sooner, the best method is to simply equip a Sceptre. A 100-point bonus to Spirit is immediately noticeable and a huge amount to have handy, but be sure to beat the boss in each Act for permanent Spirit bonuses.
If you aren’t reliant on Spirit for your build, a Sceptre will let you use Spirit abilities until you gain from bosses or Skills. Once you get to around 90 base Max Spirit, swap off the Sceptre for a potentially more useful backup weapon.
