Despite one collaboration already promised,Terrariawill be delivering another indie tie-in with itsPalworldcrossover. Given how wildly content has varied between these events, there’s a lot that fans could hope for in terms ofTerrariaand/orPalworldcontent.
TheTerrariaandPalworldcrossoverwas announced via thePalworldX account on November 27. While this will be Pocketpair’s first foray into cross-game collaboration, it’s an old habit for ReLogic—in fact, aDead Cellscrossover is still in the works forTerrarianow, and it looks to be fairly expansive.
Terrariahas a long history of including guest content from other indie games, such asDon’t Starve Together,Stardew Valley, andDungeon Defenders 2.
What The Terraria-Palworld Crossover Really Needs
There’s alreadya rough blueprint for howTerrariacrossovers work, butPalworldcould still provide surprises. After all, this will be the latter game’s first big collaboration, and with one of the highest-grossing indie games of all time, no less. Details are incredibly scarce (ReLogic has yet to come out with its own announcement about the crossover, in fact), but it’s reasonable to assume that both games will receive some new content.
New Summons, Pets, And Even Vanity Sets Would Be Great For Terraria
Terraria’s upcoming 1.4.5 updatewill be big for the game’s Summoner class, as it will introduce a variety of Whips and Summons. While this update will already be home toDead Cellscrossover content, it’s entirely possible that newPalworldcontent could come as part of the drop—and themed summons would fit right in. In particular, iconic Pals like Jetragon, Pengullet, and Grizzbolt would be solid picks. The event could introduce multiple summoner items, or turn some Pals into Pets. Given the popularity of Pals as gun-toting turrets inPalworld’s marketing, one of these critters could also make a good Sentry.
Moreover,Terrariacrossovers typically produce new vanity sets—and there’s a high possibility forPalworldcontent here too. Some of the more anthropomorphic Pals, such as Cattiva, could be turned into costumes. Furthermore, items like the Pal Sphere and the Paldeck could also be turned into useful summoner accessories and could also offer some additional vanity potential.
The Sky is The Limit For Palworld Content From Terraria
Palworld’s future remains uncertainthanks to the lawsuit with Nintendo and the vastness of material Pocketpair has planned, and the way it will integrate anyTerrariacontent is also hard to parse. However, there are some trends that will likely continue from other crossovers, meaning that iconography like the Eye of Cthulhu and the Night’s Edge will likely be involved. GivenPalworld’s reputation as being ‘Pokemonwith guns,’ many fans are hoping for the inclusion of the Minishark,Terraria’s most iconic gun, rivaled only by its Megashark upgrade.
Moreover, it’d be fantastic iftheTerrariacrossovercould bring some new Pals. A green Slime would be an obvious choice (either in its iconic enemy form or the cutesy Summoner version), but it would be good to see representation from other notableTerrariacreatures.
These could include Eaters of Souls, Pixies, Demon Eyes, and more—the list could even include some ofTerraria’s own Summons, such as the Twins from the Optic Staff or Imps from the Imp Staff. If Pocketpair wanted to be particularly adventurous, small-scale versions ofTerrariabosses would also be good picks for potential Pals.
