Summary

Overwatch 2added the option to show team health bars in its new Quick Play: Hacked. While these party frames are currently only available in this limited-time game mode,Overwatch 2could be gauging player feedback before making them permanent additions to the game in the future.

Quick Play Hacked: Kingmaker is a new limited-time game mode inOverwatch 2that is available until the start of Season 14. The experiment features flexible roles, with teams able to exchange their second support or damage hero for an additional tank. Whichever player ends up in the solo role gets a powerful buff to make up for the missing hero, similar to how the tank role’s passives work in typical games.

However, this game mode introduced a new quality-of-life feature that wasn’t mentioned in any announcement or patch notes. In Quick Play Hacked: Kingmaker, players can see a display in the bottom left corner of the screen that shows them their team’s status, including health bars, respawn time, and if their ultimate is ready. It also displays a special crown on their team’s solo role slot to remind them which character has the Kingmaker buff.

This new option can be toggled on or off in the HUD section of the Gameplay settings under PvP Team Overlay. Here, players can also customize the feature, choosing between a simplified UI that only shows heroes, respawn time, and Ultimate status, or one that also has health bars. They can even set the full display to only show up whileplaying support heroes inOverwatch 2.

Fans were delighted to see this feature make the jump fromOverwatch 2’s PvE missionsto its PvP matches, even if only in Quick Play: Hacked for the time being. Many have found the health bars to be especially useful for situational awareness during a match, and would love to see them carried over to the main game. Other players don’t like how cluttered it makes the HUD, but as long as the feature continues to be a toggle, these fans can easily turn off the status bars and keep their screens clean.

Players can enjoy Quick Play Hacked: Kingmaker from now through December 9. On December 10, Season 14 begins, bringing thenewOverwatch 2tank hero Hazardto the game. Around a week later,Overwatch 2plans to begin its 6v6 playtests, starting with a game mode called Min 1, Max 3, letting a team field between one and three heroes of each role. With a standard 2-2-2 team composition test planned for early next year,Overwatch 2fans will have no shortage of excitement over the next couple of months.
