Overwatch 2has revealed the identity of Hazard, the previously teased tank hero unofficially referred to as “Phreak” by theOverwatchcommunity, and provided the dates for the hero’s trial window.Overwatch 2is currently winding down its Halloween-themed 13th season, which also saw the limited return of classic 6v6Overwatch. Now, it’s about time for Blizzard to begin rolling out info on the next new hero that’ll be a part of the yet-to-be-unveiled Season 14.
The new hero was initially teased at the very end ofOverwatch 2’s Season 13 trailer, where the word “Phreaks” was painted on a wall while the character can be heard saying “it’s looking like a revolution.” The room in which this small tease took place also had large purple crystals scattered about, making fans speculate and wonder about the new hero. Judging by the release cadence of newOverwatch 2heroes, with the past two tanks, Ramattra and Mauga, being released in back to back Decembers, fans deduced that the new hero is also more than likely a tank, especially since the two other heroes released this year,Venture and Juno, are DPS and support heroes respectively.
On Twitter,Overwatch 2released a new two-minute trailer revealing its new tank hero, Hazard, who’s part of a new revolutionary group known as the Phreaks.Taking place onOverwatch’s Oasis map, the cinematic trailer showcased Hazard and two other members of the Phreaks as they extract a mysterious purple fluid before being ambushed and having to fight their way out. The tweet also included the start and end date of Hazard’s in-game trial run, November 22-25, where players can get hands-on experience trying out the new tank.
Hazard Is Overwatch 2’s Newest Tank Hero, Playable November 22-25
Overwatchhero reveal trailers like these typically showcase abilities that are likely to be part of the hero’s in-game kit, and that’s sure to be the case here. Hazard’s right hand is a large claw that also is able to be used as a gun; this is likely going to be the hero’s primary weapon. Partway through the trailer, the trio gets pinned down by their adversaries, and Hazard lets his Phreakmate, an Omnic named Suzie, inject a portion of the dangerous purple goo into his body. Purple crystals emerge from his back as Hazard appears to be powered up with a purpleCyberpunk 2077Mantis Blade-esquescythe on his left arm. It’s unclear whether Hazard is going to be a two-form tempo tank like Ramattra, or if this power-up goo is just tied to his ultimate ability.
Fans have just a few days to give Hazard a try inOverwatch 2before having to wait until the kickoff of Season 14 to gain full access to the new tank. There will undoubtedly be more info released by Blizzard in the coming days and weeks giving more insight into Hazard’s abilities and lore, soOverwatch 2playersshould keep an eye on Blizzard’s social media in the lead-up to his trial window later this week.
