Summary
Blizzard has pulled the curtain back on the abilities available to new Tank hero Hazard inOverwatch 2. Hazard has been teased for theOverwatch 2roster for quite some time, with some fans assuming that he would be called “Phreak.” However, it was later clarified that Phreak isn’t Hazard’s name, but rather, he is part of a group known as the Phreaks.
Hazard’s backstory sees him joining a group called the Phreaks, who modify their bodies with advanced technology. These body modifications are how Hazard gets his abilities. TheOverwatch 2Hazard reveal trailergave fans an idea of what to expect from the new hero’s abilities, but now Blizzard has provided specifics.
As detailed by Blizzard,Hazard’s main weaponinOverwatch 2is Bonespur, which fires a burst of spikes at opponents. His ultimate ability is called Downpour, allowing him to “rain down a torrent of spikes” that can immobilize enemies. Hazard can vault, like many other heroes, and he comes with three additional abilities. Jagged Wall lets Hazard launch a spiked wall that damages and knocks back enemies, while Spike Guard can be used to fire homing spikes at enemies. While that particular ability is active, Hazard takes reduced damage and also regenerates his ammo. And finally, Hazard has Violent Leap, which allows him to lunge forward. When activated twice, he is able to slash enemies at the end of his lunge, knocking them back. Based on his kit, it sounds like Hazard is going to be highly effective at crowd control. It will definitely be interesting to see how theOverwatch 2community reacts to his kit.
