Black Leg Sanji is the enigmatic chef of the Straw Hat pirates. Though it was first believed that everything about Sanji had already been revealed, duringthe Zou arc, Sanji was shown to be the third son ofthe Vinsmoke family. The Vinsmoke family is royalty from theGerma Kingdomand is known for its scientific and advanced technology.
Sanji and his four siblings are the result of genetic engineering, which was enabled by their father, Vinsmoke Judge’s scientific breakthroughs. These genetic modifications include human exoskeletons, an extraordinary healing ability, and physical strength. Unfortunately, Sanji was dubbed the family’s failure as he did not display any of these modifications, thus leading him to be shunned by the family and bullied by his brothers.
However, Sanji cared little for power and strength, as his compassion was stronger than his siblings. During thetrip to East Blue, Sanji escaped the dungeon with the help of his older sister, Reiju. Sanji soon encountered Zeff and began to follow his dream of becoming a chef while working at the Baratie.
From then on, Sanji’s genetic modification never manifested, even after the time skip and the rigorous training he endured in Kamabakka Kingdom. Although Sanji has grown to be exceptionally powerful, worthy of being one of the upper echelon in the Straw Hat pirate, in the battle with Queen duringthe Raid on Onigashima, there’s no doubt that Sanji had struggled throughout the fight as Queen’s cyborg body was too technologically advanced.
The Reason Sanji Won the Battle Against Queen
Thanks to the Genetic Modification That Awakened, Sanji Could Defeat Queen
There are a few reasons why Sanji won the battle againstQueenduring the Raid on Onigashima, and it has plenty to do with his actions well before the battle. During the Levely arc, Sanji received his Raid Suit from Niji, his older brother, while escaping Cacao Island. Knowing Sanji would not accept anything from the family, Niji snuck it into Sanji’s pocket for future use.
Proving Niji’s point, Sanji initially wanted nothing to do with Germa technology and eagerly wanted to throw the canister away. However, he was promptly stopped by Luffy andChopper, who were excited at the prospect of witnessing Sanji shoot laser beams in Chapter 903. However, Sanji would only begin touse the Raid Suitduring the Wano arc, to which the total amount of time it was used was three.
However, after using the Raid Suit several times, Sanji begins to notice his body has been feeling weird. Throughout this time, Sanji had been struggling in his fight with Queen, unable to land a hit that would knock him down for good. During this time, Sanji also began to wish Zoro would wake up from his medical slumber and assist in the battle. At this time, it’s clear that Sanji could not defeat Queen without any assistance from Germa technology or his Raid Suit.
Probably because I wore this, the “science” that was in my body from birth awakened.
However, after taking a devastating hit from Queen’s Brachiosnakeus attack, Sanji was left with broken bones that would have incapacitated a normal human, which would have ended the fight if Sanji had not awakened the modifications. However, after Sanji had used his Raid Suit numerous times, the genetic modifications in his body from birth began to awaken during battle, leaving Sanji with a human exoskeleton, exceptional healing, and physical strength.
If Sanji had not awakened this modification, he would have likely been unable to defeat Queen without a significant advantage. Before Queen’s defeat in Episode 1061, Queen continued to display powerful techniques and attacks, even going so far as to replicate Germa 66’s techniques against Sanji, which showcased his use of his cyborg advancements.
Without the suit, you’re no match for me!
Although Sanji destroyed his Raid Suit during the battle, unwilling to lose his mind and become cold and heartless like his siblings, he was still able to awaken some of the Germa modifications that lay dormant within his body, though unbeknownst to him. Sanji may not have fully awakened the “science” within his body; however, these abilities assisted him during the battle with the Queen.
While Sanji was not happy about becoming a closer being to of his brothers, with the additional modifications now made to his body, he was able to utilize stronger techniques that would put Queen down.
Now that Sanji had a stronger exoskeleton, enhanced strength, and super speed paired with his ArmamentHaki, Sanji could place several powerful blows on Queen that blew him off Onigashima. Although Sanji achieved victory in this battle, he quickly passed out, which means that without the additional Germa modifications, Sanji would have struggled in the battle against the technologically advanced Queen.
