However, until now, no Logia Devil Fruit has ever been confirmed to be awakened in the series. At the same time, many fans have theories that doing such a thing would be impossible, though none of this evidence has been directly proven. It’s interesting to note that some ofthe strongest characters ofOne Piece, including the original Navy Admirals, currently haven’t revealed that they have awakened their Devil Fruit, though once they do, it may arguably be the most terrifying power in all ofOne Piece.

Devil Fruit Awakenings occur when a Devil Fruit user is able to master their power, unlocking the full potential of their abilities. This occurs specifically when aOne PieceDevil Fruit user’s mind and body catch up to the powers of their fruit. While most of the time this gives characters a new ability, like Doffy’s ability to usethe String-String Fruitto turn objects into strings, other times it reveals the true nature of the user’s Devil Fruit, like with Luffy’s Devil Fruit revealing itself as the Human-Human Fruit: Model Nika.

Since the idea of Devil Fruit Awakenings is so closely tied to the idea of the mind and body catching up to the Fruit’s power, many have assumed that this means a Logia Fruit Awakening is near impossible. Due to the already extreme powers ofOne Piece’sLogia Devil Fruits, compared to other, weaker Devil Fruits, a Logia Awakening is going to require a far stronger mind and body than usual. However, once the power is unlocked, it could reveal some of the most destructive abilities inOne Piece.

Taking a look back at time skip inOne Piece, two of the most powerful Logia Devil Fruit users, Akainu and Aokiji, used their Logia abilities while battling to see who would becomethe Fleet Admiral of the Navy. In this battle on Punk Hazard, the two unleashed such devastating powers that it permanently altered the landscape of the island to being half a lava-filled wasteland and half a frozen tundra, split directly down the middle. Of course, this is an extent of Logia Fruit powers that still hasn’t been matched in the series to this day.
Potentially, this altering of the landscape could be a hint of the extent of a Logia Devil Fruit Awakening. MostOne PieceDevil Fruit Awakeningsallow the user to manipulate objects around them with their fruit, but Logia Devil Fruits can generate and manipulate their own element at will. However, no Logia Devil Fruit has ever been shown to alter an environment permanently to that extent. In fact, this may be the two Navy Admirals both using their Awakening in combat for the only time in the series so far.

Still, due to the sheer amount of mental and physical will that Awakeninga Logia Fruit inOne Piecewould require, and the awe-inspiring powers of supposedly non-Awakened Logia Fruits, an Awakened Logia Devil Fruit is going to be a game-changer inOne Piece. IfOne Piecevillains, like Blackbeard, or Akainu, Awaken their Logia Fruits, it may prove to be one of Luffy’s most difficult fights yet.

In the end, not much is known aboutOne Piece’sAwakenedDevil Fruits, besides the fact that it will be extremely difficult for the user to accomplish. It may even be impossible, at least until Oda reveals more information on the subject. Still,One Piecehas always been great about holding onto new powers to reveal at the perfect moment, so the reveal of Logia Awakenings may come at a huge moment in the series down the line.
