Years after its release on Xbox Game Pass and other platforms, hit RPGChained Echoeswill receive a new DLC expansion in 2025. TheChained EchoesDLC was announced during a livestream event hosted by publisher Deck13 Interactive on Jun 04, 2025.
Developed as a solo project by creator Matthias Linda,Chained Echoeslaunched in December 2022 to critical and audience acclaim.Chained Echoesdrew on its classic JRPG inspirationsto appeal to audiences with turn-based gameplay and a story following a group of heroes traveling the fantasy world of Valandis. The game also brought its own mechanical twists to the table, such as having an unusual leveling system and incorporating interesting skill interactions to add complexity to combat.
Now developer Matthias Linda, under his studio name of Umami Tiger, has announcedChained Echoesstory DLC for release in 2025. Titled “Ashes of Elrant,” players will once again join the Crimson Wings as they answer one more call for help. The DLC announcement follows other post-launch updates that addedChained EchoesNew Game+and other features, like additional language support and bug fixes.
Chained Echoes Ashes of Elrant DLC Adds New Playable Character
According to the announcement, theChained EchoesAshes of Elrant DLC o add new places to visit in the form of the land of Elrant. It will also add an entirely new playable character, White Wolf. Shown as a muscular character covered in white fur and with the head of a wolf, White Wolf seems to use martial arts and hand-to-hand moves in his repertoire. He’ll have a chance to use those techniques in full, as the DLC includes more than 40 new enemies and bosses populating Elrant, as well as new equipment, which might be able to compete with existingChained Echoesultimate weapons.
Ashes of Elrant will also be a narrative expansion, adding new adventures for the Crimson Wings. Its story takes place just as the crew are preparing for the game’s final sequence of events. It will explore the origins of the Order of Leonar, as well as the past of the character Lenne. A major presence in the base game story, Lenne possessed some ofthe most usefulChained Echoesskills, and for some fans, has a few unexplained plot points associated with her story.
It’s been nearly three years since the release ofChained Echoes.
