Over the years, Deadpool has risen to become one of Marvel’s most well-known characters. Following the massivesuccess ofDeadpool and Wolverine, it seemed to be just a matter of time before the video game world shifted its focus to Wade Wilson as the leading character again. Though this shift may not be coming in the form of a new game, something exciting may be on the horizon for the 2013 title.

Activision’s expired licensing agreements affected several games, including variousSpider-Mangames,twoMarvel Ultimate Allianceprojects, andDeadpool. Given that theDeadpoolgame was delisted for the second time in 2017, hopes that the game would return to Steam have been slim. After all, Deadpool as a character has garnered a sturdy following, but the game hasn’t returned to digital storefronts like PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, or Steam in over seven years.

Despite an OpenCritic rating of 66, the title, which features iconic figures such as Wolverine, Cable, Rogue, and Mister Sinister, found a special place in the hearts of many of its players. It’s not the most successful orcritically acclaimedMarvelgame, but this doesn’t mean it’s without an audience. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been easy for fans to revisit or for newer fans to get into because it is so difficult to access on modern-day and next-gen consoles.
2013 Deadpool Game Gets an Update on Steam
Interestingly, fans speculated this could lead to good news after X userKnoebelpointed out thatDeadpooland six other delisted games had received a new Steam update. While some anticipate a remastered version, others wish for a fresh campaign. Similarly, a portion of the fanbase hopes that this meansDeadpoolwill be purchasable on Steam again, especially considering that some onlinelistings forDeadpoolwere priced at $50,000in August. Though these numbers were inflated due to the release of the 2024Deadpool and Wolverinemovie, it’s clear that there’s still demand for the game, even if players can only access it through pre-owned copies.
The update is visible through thethird-party database SteamDB. The “Last Record Update” category reveals changes as recent as November 14, with a change list for the games that read “added store_screenshot.” What the screenshots are cannot be determined, but this could be Activision’s first step towards bringing back many of its previously lost licensed games.

Even though it’s been over ten years since the hack-and-slash game was released, Wade Wilson is still as recognizable as ever. Though the arguably lukewarm combat system isn’t for everyone, his adventures with Wolverine and other members of the X-Men are worth delving into. Therefore, any futureupdates to 2013’sDeadpoolgameare welcome.
