The anime adaptation ofDekin no Mogura(the title means something likeThe Banned Mogura) was officially confirmed. Thesupernatural-themed mangahas been running since 2021 in Kodansha’sMorning Magazine, and is penned by Natsumi Eguchi (Hozuki’s Coolheadednesscreator).Dandadanfans might want to take a look at this one.
Kodansha had already released information about the animation when it listed the eight manga volume, which is slated for July 05, 2025. Now, an official website has been opened for the adaptation, revealing more information, including a2025 debut forecast.
The animationis set to premiere in July 2025, with no international distribution confirmed yet. A trailer was shared on the website, featuringYuichi Nakamuraas main character Momoyuki Mogura. Check out:

Alongside the trailer and schedule, the website also revealed the main staff and cast.Hiroshi Ishiodori(KenIchi the Mightiest DiscipleOVA director) is directing the series, andShizo Fujitais overseeing the series scripts (Fujita previously worked onTo Your Eternityseasons one and twoas main scriptwriter).Tomoki Hasegawa(NANA) is composing the music andYoko Takabe(Tonari no Youkai-san) is in charge of character designs. StudioBrain’s Base(Golden KamuySeason 4) is animating the series. The only main voice actor announced so far is Yuichi Nakamura (he previously played Gray Fullbuster inFairy Tail).
The story starts when students Magi and Yaeko witness an infamously heavy dictionary falling on the head of a guy, making it bleed. However, the man denies any medical or police assistance. After this incident, both students start experiencing and seeing odd things.
Author Is Also Hozuki’s Coolheadedness Creator
This is the second time one of Eguchi’s works will be adapted into animation. The first one wasHozuki’s Coolheadedness, another supernatural comedy. It was serialized in the same Morning magazine from 2011 to 2020, with 31 volumes. Kodansha USA licenses it in English, and it is only available digitally.
Two anime seasons aired, respectively, in 2014 and 2018, with a total of 39 episodes. Additionally, 7 OVA episodes were released in Japan. The first season was produced by Wit Studio, and the second one, by Studio Deen. The OVA episodes were produced by both studios (Wit produced episodes 1-3, Deen produced the fourth) and also Pine Jam (the last three episodes). It is available to stream on HIDIVE.
The plot takes place in Hell, a bureaucratic business running smooth thanks to Hozuki, a demon who is chief deputy to Lord Emma, then King of Hell. This Hell is not the Christian Hell, with whom they have diplomatic relationships. Anyway, this is a story of business, micromanagement and diplomacy about the daily life of a busy demon, withheavy Japanese and East Asian folklore elements on it.
Dekin no Mogurais slated for July 2025, with no international release confirmed yet. The original manga is not licensed in the US.
