Electronic Arts has announced that theNeed for Speed: Unboundvol. 9 Lockdown update will be released on November 26. This newNeed for Speed: Unboundupdate introduces the “most high-stakes mode yet,” brings two new fully customizable cars, new PvP content, and much more.
Developed by Criterion Games,Need for Speed: Unboundis all about high-speedaction, street culture, and the thrill of underground racing. Although the game received some negative reviews at launch due to inconsistent AI and rubber-banding during races, it continues to maintain a loyal fan base. It offers both single-player and multiplayer modes, packed with different kinds of events, challenges, and an extensive vehicle customization system. Fans who loveNeed for Speed Unbound’s fast-paced gameplay should be excited about all the new content arriving with the upcoming update on November 26.
The highlight of the vol. 9 update is the Lockdown mode, which the developer describes as the “most high-stakes mode yet.” This PvPvE multiplayer experience puts five crews, with up to three players each, against both one another and the forces of Lakeshore’s Police Department. In order to win, players must work together with their crew to complete contracts, break into lockups, and secure high-value vehicles by taking control of the Extraction Truck. Additionally, a mysterious organizer called Racer X will shake things up with different challenges and surprises.
The update also introduces two new vehicles totheNeed For Speed: Unboundcar lineup, including the Honda Integra Type R and the Subaru Impreza WRX STI. These vehicles, along with 15 others inspired by the iconicNeed for Speed: Most WantedBlacklist, will be available for players to unlock and use across Free Roam, PvP, and Lockdown modes. For the first time in the series, motorcycles make an appearance, and players will be able to get their hands on the BMW S 1000 RR in Lockdown mode.
Moreover, the Lockdown Zone will add an interesting new layer of strategy for players. EMP walls will be deployed by Lakeshore PD to force players into high-risk, high-reward areas. These zones offer better loot but come with a catch: they inflict damage over time and push players’ heat level to the maximum. Players can win unique rewards once they successfully complete contracts and extract Blacklist vehicles from these zones. Some of the prizes includethe iconicNeed for Speed: Most Wantedcar, the BMW M3 GTR.
The update also introduces a brand-new Speed Pass, featuring 45 tiers of unlockable content. For PvP enthusiasts, the update adds bike-only playlists, JDM-themed drift events, and a special playlist dedicated to the 30th anniversary oftheNeed for Speedfranchise. With the vol. 9 Lockdown update,Need for Speed: Unboundplayers have a lot to be excited about on November 26.
