According to a new Twitter post from Randy Pitchford,Borderlands 4will be properly revealed duringThe Game Awards 2024on December 12. While the length of the trailer remains unknown, Pitchford states that actual gameplay will be shown, along with a cinematic sequence that takes place between the end ofBorderlands 3and the beginning ofBorderlands 4. This may help to give prospective players an idea of the upcoming game’s story, of which precious little is currently known. Though many fans thought that a mysterious face shown in the teaser trailer was that of Handsome Jack, this rumor has been laid to rest, with Gearbox clarifying that the iconic villain won’t be returning in a major way.
Borderlands 4 Gameplay Will Be Shown During The Game Awards 2024
While an exactrelease date forBorderlands 4has not yet been revealed, Gearbox has stated that the game will drop sometime between July 15, 2025, and May 21, 2025. WithGrand Theft Auto 6expected to hit store shelves sometime in Fall 2025, many fans are predicting that a buffer of three months on either side of such a major title would be wise, puttingBorderlands 4’s release date in late spring or early summer 2025. However, some fans believe that this is too optimistic, instead predicting an early 2026 drop. It’s unclear whether more details about the game’s release date will be revealed at The Game Awards as well.
