Summary
A very recent rumor surroundingNaughty Dog’s next game was falsified in a matter of hours. The rumor in question claimed to reveal the name of the highly-anticipated new IP that has been in the works atNaughty Dogfor quite some time.
Naughty Dog’s award-winning stints with theUnchartedandThe Last of Usfranchises have made it one of the most well-regarded teams under the PlayStation banner. However, many fans feel that it’s time for Naughty Dog to try its hand at something entirely new, and it seems the Californian studio feels the same way. Ever since the launch ofThe Last of Us Part 2in 2020, countlessrumors about Naughty Dog developing a new IPhave spawned, with the studio ultimately confirming work on a “brand-new single-player game” back in May 2024.
Leaks and rumors aboutNaughty Dog’s mysterious new IPoften come up thanks to the surrounding excitement, and many of them are expectedly wrong or even outright fakes. A new “leak” about Naughty Dog’s new IP has now joined the latter category very quickly. Just a few hours ago, Twitter user ArctixOfficial discovered a LinkedIn profile belonging to one Raymond Keller, who’s supposedly an Environment Artist at Naughty Dog with experience at WB Games Montreal and Bungie. More interestingly, though, Keller mentioned that they’re working on anew IP at Naughty Dog dubbed “Timeless Travel.”
“Timeless Travel” Name Leak for Naughty Dog’s New IP Has Been Discredited
This rumor initially sent Naughty Dog fans into a frenzy, inciting lots of speculation about the sci-fi implications of the Timeless Travel name. However, fact-checkers have since debunked this rumor, as they foundno evidence of Raymond Kellerin the credits for any WB Montreal or Bungie games in the past decade. Details on Naughty Dog’s new IP continue to elude fans, but the long wait could be coming to a close fairly soon. Studio president Neil Druckmann recently confirmed that theunannounced project he’s currently helming at Naughty Doghas been in development since 2020.
Since AAA games generally take five to seven years to develop and ship, Naughty Dog being four years deep into its next game likely hints at the project being in the latter half of production. Therefore, an official reveal of Naughty Dog’s next game may not be all that far off in the future. Given that prolific voice actorTroy Baker was recently confirmed to appear in Naughty Dog’s next gameas well, it seems all the more probable that it will be the long-awaited new IP rather thanThe Last of Us Part 3.
