My Hero Academiadelivered the final manga chapter a few months ago, and the last volume will soon be released. The ending ofMy Hero Academiachapter made fans divided, withdisappointed fansbeing highly vocal on social media.
It is common forchanges to happen in the compiled volumes, compared to the weekly serializations. A few reasons for that include that authors sometimes have a limit of pages they cannot exceed and also that the schedule is too tight, so a lot of times they are not able to write the story exactly how they wanted to. The volumes, on the other hand, have a smoother schedule, so they can add or change a few things. For this reason, fans might expect a few changes to how things ended, but not big ones.
ThelastMy Hero Academiavolume is the 42nd one, slated to be published on July 12, 2025, in Japan. Shueisha recently shared the cover, which alludes to the first volume’s cover, with the idea that anew cycle for the younger generationhas now begun (this does not mean there will be a direct sequel). What’s Next For My Hero Academia
Series ended, but fans can expect some news
While there is no information about creator Kohei Horikoshi starting a new manga series (related toMy Hero Academiaor not), there are still a few things fans can look for. The first one is, obviously, more anime episodes. New seasons are probably going to be announced soon.
The second one is acollaboration between the series andJujutsu Kaisen, scheduled to happen at Jump Festa 2025 (despite the name, ittakes place in December 2024). Jump Festa is an annual Shonen Jump event with big announcements for many titles.
Considering recent years, it is also possible new movies will be announced as long as the anime is still ongoing. Horikoshi stated once that the second movie would be the last, but that’s not how things actually went, and the third and fourth movies debuted, respectively, in 2021 and this year. No new movie has been announced, but it is not unreasonable to believe there might be more.
The series could even do what other Shonen Jump anime adaptations are doing: turning the last chapters into movies.Demon SlayerandHaikyu!!are going this way. It’s important to notice that there have always been anime whose sequels/final chapters were turned into animated movies, but this was not the most common path. Quite the opposite, some of them were lower budget series with limited releases. ButafterDemon Slayer: Mugen Train’smassively successful theater release, anime producers started looking at cinema campaigns differently, and a lot of hyped series are going to theaters, either as full movies or as special previews.
Anyway, despite the ending of the series, fans can still expect more content, be it the anime adaptation or new spin-offs (currently,Team-Up Missionsis ongoing).
My Hero Academiais published by VIZ Media in the US. The anime adaptation is licensed by Crunchyroll and available to stream on Crunchyroll, Netflix, and Hulu, subbed and dubbed.
