MultiVersushas continuously updated its character roster and map selections since the game’s initial release back in 2022. Like other crossover fighting games,MultiVersushas drawn inspiration from Warner Bros.' wide variety of properties, not just for its character roster, but when theming its various maps. Leaks of the game’s latest maps allege thatMultiVersuswill continue to add more Warner Bros. properties to the game outside of franchises already present on its character roster.
These alleged new additions will add cult favorites to the crossover fighting game. MultiVersus’ last update recently added Marceline fromAdventure TimeandRaven from theTeen Titansfranchiseas characters on the game’s roster. It is unknown when these maps will be added toMultiVersus, if at all.
Primal Stomps Into MultiVersus
Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primalfirst began airingon Cartoon Network’s Adult Swimin 2019. The anthology TV series follows a caveman and a dinosaur who bond over the death of their families. Together they survive the unforgiving and dangerous primitive era before eventually discovering civilizations. Currently, the show has two seasons, though it has been slated for a third.Primalhas been praised for its art style and incredible storytelling, which is achieved in the first season without any dialogue.
KnownMultiVersusleaker @NotAusilMVon X (formerly Twitter) leaked images of a jungle-themed map. The map, allegedly called “Primoridal Lands”, seems to be based on thePrimalTV series based upon its supposed title, the stegosaurus in the map’s background, and a dinosaur skull.
Historically, the addition of a map inMultiVersusfrom a franchise that has yet to be featured in the game typically means that characters from that franchise are not far behind. Both the Powerpuff Girlsand Raven were added shortly after the Townsville and Titans Tower stages were added.
IfMultiVersuscontinues this trend, there’s a chance that Spear and Fang,Primal’s caveman and dinosaurrespectively, could be added to the game’s character roster. This has not been the case for everyMultiVersusmap, but it remains a possibility that gamers are excited about.
Over the Garden Wall and Into MultiVersus
Over the Garden Wallhas cemented itself as a fall favorite sinceairing on Cartoon Networkin 2014. The animated TV miniseries is a fairy tale for the modern day, following two brothers in a mysterious land trying to make their way home. In episode 6, “Lullaby in Frogland”, brothers Wirt and Greg, along with their newfound bluebird friend Beatrice, sneak aboard a ferry. The riverboat is boarded entirely by frogs, including the band which the ragtag group of kids has disguised themselves as. As all hope seems lost, Greg’s pet frog begins to sing along with the frog band for the boat’s passengers.
Music forMultiVersus’ stages tends to be themed to the franchise the stage is from. For example, the Titans Tower stage features music based on the iconicTeen Titanstheme song.If another leak by @NotAusiMVis correct, thenOver the Garden Wall’s iconic riverboat will be yet another stage added toMultiVersus. It would be unsurprising to hear the frog band’s tune in the background of this stage.
Though the image of the stage may seem mundane at first glance, fans ofOver the Garden Wallwill notice the riverboat’s frog passengers aboard the vessel and the autumnal theme and coloring of the stage generally. In addition, Enoch the ruler of Pottsfield, a town introduced in episode 2 “Hard Times at the Huskin’ Bee”, can be seen in the background of the stage.
Both of these stages should be fun additions toMultiVersusthat could bring new characters to the fighting games roster. Until these leaks are confirmed, players can try out the latestMultiVersusseason toplay as Marceline and Raven.
