Ghostface has made his way intoMortal Kombat 1andDead by Daylight, thanks to recent expansions to both games. While Ghostface is a well-known character, each game portrays him in a different way. After all,Mortal Kombat 1andDead by Daylightare in two completely different genres. That doesn’t mean that the two playable versions of Ghostface can’t be compared, though. Each game’s take on the iconic slasher has a distinct set of skills for players to use, and analyzing both could give fans an idea of which Ghostface may have the upper hand.
Long beforeGhostface’s debut inDead by Daylight, the character was already a horror icon. Rather than being a single character, Ghostface is an identity that has been taken up by several characters throughout the franchise’s history. In their instantly recognizable mask and cloak, each Ghostface has gone on a killing spree for their own reasons. It’s also worth nothing that, on most occasions, there has been more than one killer behind the mask, with onlyScream 3andDead by Daylight’s incarnations breaking this trend. While many have worn the title of Ghostface, the mask has become a symbol of the horror genre.
Ghostface stands as one ofDead by Daylight’s stealthiest killers, able to turn off his terror radius and move undetected. Not only that, but his stalking ability enables him to down survivors with a single stab. These abilities make him an efficient killer. However,Dead by Daylight’s trials do not take place on even footing. While Ghostface can bring down the burly David King in a single stab, the Survivors don’t have any way to meaningfully hurt killers.Dead by Daylight’s Ghostface is undoubtedly stealthy and deadly, but it’s unclear how well he would perform in a fair fight.
Mortal Kombat 1’s Ghostface is a Brutal and Bloody Combatant
It has only been a short time sinceGhostface’s debut inMortal Kombat 1, but his skills are already apparent. InMortal Kombat 1, Ghostface has a dangerous style focused primarily on his knife, with a few kicks and stance-based moves thrown in. While he has no supernatural powers, the assistance of two other Ghostfaces provides him with an edge. This version of Ghostface can go toe-to-toe with superpowered martial artists despite no powers of his own. However, unlikeDead by Daylight’s Ghostface, it has been shown that he can die at their hands.
Ghostface’s accomplices inMortal Kombat 1have some supernatural abilities, but the main Ghostface only has his knife and phone.
Both Ghostfaces Have Different Skills Suiting Their Video Game Appearances
It would be hard to call the result of a potentialfight involvingMortal Kombat 1’s Ghostfaceand theDead by Daylightincarnation, but there are a few key factors worth considering. WhileDead by Daylight’s Ghostface is an effective assassin, he doesn’t show any techniques beyond stalking and stabbing. In addition,Dead by Daylight’s format keeps him from fighting anyone that would be on his level. WhileMortal Kombat 1’s Ghostface is mortal, he is also far more dangerous in a straight-up confrontation. Unless the Entity got involved, a fight between the two Ghostfaces would likely be won byMortal Kombat 1’s version.
Dead by Daylight’s Ghostface shouldn’t be underestimated; he is still one ofDead by Daylight’s dangerous killers, and if he got the drop on his counterpart, he could potentially win without confrontation. Despite that,Mortal Kombat 1’s Ghostface shows far more promise head-to-head. He has more fighting experience, more tricks up his sleeve, and most crucially, has actually fought against opponents who have the power to take him down.Mortal Kombat 1andDead by Daylightboth adapted Ghostface well, but the former would probably win a fight.
