10Felyne

Helpful Allies And Mischievous Thieves

While not a monster you fight in the series, the Felynes and Melynx are short cat-sized creatures that assist (and sometimes hinder) the player in variousMonster Huntertitles.

Whether cooking up some grub at the canteen to boost player health or reviving the player as a raging Negegainte tears them apart, these cat-like creatures are usually helpful - at least the Felyne kind. The Melynx, however, are known to steal items - so watch out for these furry critters.

Four Vespoids

9Vespoid

Annoying Tiny Pests

Vespoids are giant insects that harass players as they hunt for monsters. Present throughout most of the series, these creatures attack hunters with their stingers - paralyzing upon impact. Although not particularly threatening, Vespoids can get in the way when hunting various monsters, making them an annoying pest, potentially causing a failed quest due to forcing the player to flinch - resulting in death.

8Giggi

Dark-dwelling Parasite

The literal offspring of wyverns, Giggi are leech creatures that feed off otheranimals and monstersand preside in dark environments away from the outside world. Adisgusting-looking creaturewith not much going for it, Giggi is remarkably well adapted to shady areas by using its large mouth to leech from other beasts.

7Altaroth

Ant-Like Menace In Swarms

Altaroth, much like Vespoids, are Neopteron insects that inhabit numerous locations throughout the games. They are known for their ant-like stature and ability to absorb materials such as fruit. While not hostile to the player in their small size, the larger Vespoids are much moreaggressive- attacking in mass.

6Hornetaur

Aggressive Insect Battlers

Another member of the Neopteron family is the Hornetaur. Hornetaur’s resemble beetles but on a giant scale, and much like their Vespoid cousins, consistently bother hunters when engaging with monsters. These pests team up in groups to take down hunters, attacking them with immense aggression if they invade their territory. Vespoids can be harvested by hunters using a slingshot to down them. Hunters need careful consideration when gathering materials from them.

5Konchu

Small Armored Rolling Predator

The small insect creature Konchu rolls into a ball in search of food and when attacking enemies. Konchus resemble insects crossed with armadillos; these unique creatures have hardened shells and can survive in different environments due to their robustness. While Konchus are often easy to defeat and hunted for theirstrong armor, they can get the better of unexpected hunters due to their ability to roll at speed with immense aggression.

4Mosswine

Gentle Forager With Unexpected Aggression

A fairly peaceful animal, the Mosswine is a pig-like creature covered in green moss. These pigs like to forage for mushrooms and can be provoked if a hunter attacks. Hunters prize Mosswine due to its ability to find rare mushrooms that can be used for crafting. Mosswine has been featured throughout the series in its various titles, with the tiny creature getting its own giant-sized boss battle in Monster Hunter World.

Players often seek Mosswine due to its ability to find rare mushrooms for crafting. Although the monster does not pose much of a threat to hunters, it does have a rather damaging charge ability that players will want to avoid on their hunt.
