When sharing the artwork on Reddit, Danderlyon revealed the story behind the painting. Impressively, they were mostly self-taught, taking only a few drawing classes while at university. According to the artist, the inspiration for the painting came after completing a recent forest painting of a fox, which they linked in the comments section. Danderlyon revealed that after finishing the piece, they thought it would have been cool to do a painting with aMinecraftmob instead. This spurred them to create the bee painting.
